2009 K League Championship
The 2009 K League Championship was the 13th competition of the K League Championship, and was held to decide the 27th champions of the K League. The top six clubs of the 2009 K League#Regular season, regular season qualified for the championship. The winners of the regular season directly qualified for the final, and second place team qualified for the semi-final. The other four clubs entered the first round, and the winners of the second round advanced to the semi-final. Each match was played as a single match, excluding the final which consisted of two matches. Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors became the champions for the first time by defeating Seongnam FC, Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma 3–1 on aggregate in the final. Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC () is a South Korean professional football club based in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province that competes in the K League 1, the top tier of South Korean football. Jeonbuk have won the K League a record nine times, including five consecutive titles between 2017 and 2021, and the Korean FA Cup five times. Internationally, the club have won the AFC Champions League twice, first in 2006, becoming the first club from East Asia to win the tournament since it was rebranded in 2003. Kim Jin-kyu (born 16 February 1985) is a retired South Korean football player. He has gained reputation as a defender who is also capable of scoring. Club career He began playing football during 4th grade at elementary school influenced by his older brother. After graduating from Andong High School, he headed straight to K League instead of playing for a university.
