2009 Barclays Asia Trophy
The 2009 Premier League Asia Trophy () was the fourth edition of the Premier League Asia Trophy, a four-team association football tournament held every two years. Hull City, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and the local Chinese Super League club Beijing Guoan competed for the title on 29 July and 31 July in the Workers' Stadium, Beijing. Tottenham Hotspur won the trophy. Competition format The competition uses a knock-out format. On July 29, West Ham United played against Tottenham Hotspur, while Hull City meeting Beijing Guoan. Final, 3rd and 4th playoff were played two days later. Results Third place play-off Final Ticket sales issues Ticket prices started as low as RMB80 (GBP 7) and rose to RMB380 (GBP 34). 2009–10 Premier League
The 2009–10 Premier League (known as the Barclays Premier League for sponsorship reasons) was the 18th season of the Premier League since its establishment in 1992. A total of 20 teams competed in the league, with Chelsea unseating the three-time defending champions Manchester United, scoring a then Premier League record 103 goals in the process. The season began on 15 August 2009 and concluded on 9 May 2010. Prior to each opening week match, a minute's applause was held in memory of Sir Bobby Robson. Martin Atkinson (born 31 March 1971) is an English referee coach and retired professional football referee who officiated primarily in the Premier League. He is a member of the West Riding County Football Association. Atkinson made his first appearance as an official in the Football League as an assistant referee in 1995. Aaron Justin Lennon (; born 16 April 1987) is an English former professional footballer who played as a right winger. Lennon began his career at hometown club Leeds United, making his first-team debut in 2003 and becoming the youngest player to play in the Premier League at that time.
