2008–09 Sheffield Shield Season
The 2008–09 Sheffield Shield season was the 107th season of official first-class domestic cricket in Australia. After nine seasons of being named the Pura Cup, it was announced that the Australian interstate trophy would return to its previous name of the Sheffield Shield as part of a new sponsorship agreement with Weet-Bix. The season began on 10 October 2008 when Queensland took on Tasmania at the Gabba. The two points table leaders at the end of the regular season, Victoria and Queensland, played each other in the final at the Junction Oval, with Victoria becoming Sheffield Shield champions after a drawn match thanks to their superior results in the regular season. Simon Katich
Simon Matthew Katich (born 21 August 1975) is an Australian cricket coach and former cricketer. He captained New South Wales and also, until the end of the 2007 season, Derbyshire County Cricket Club. Katich also played for Lancashire, represented his birth state of Western Australia and played in the Indian Premier League for Kings XI Punjab. Katich was also a member of the Australian team that won the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy. He played primarily as a left-handed opening batsman and part-time left-arm unorthodox spin bowler. He played 56 Test matches for Australia from 2001 to 2011. On 12 June 2012 Katich retired from first-class cricket in Australia, but returned to play for Western Australia in 2013. Chris Swan
Christopher Richard Swan (born 10 August 1978) is an Australian professional cricketer. He is a right-arm swing bowling, swing bowler who played for Queensland Bulls, Queensland between 2006 and 2012. Swan was born at Southport, Queensland in 1978. Before playing first-class cricket, Swan played for the Gold Coast Dolphins in Queensland's Queensland Cricket#XXXX Gold A Grade Competition, grade cricket premiership. He once took nine wickets in an innings for the Dolphins and became the club's captain and coach. Marcus North
Marcus James North (born 28 July 1979) is a former Australian first-class cricketer who played 21 Test matches and two One Day Internationals (ODIs) for the Australian national side. Born in Melbourne, North grew up in Western Australia, attending Kent Street Senior High School as part of their Specialist Cricket Program, and was a successful junior cricketer, entering the Australian Cricket Academy and playing under-19 cricket for Australia. Western Warriors
The Western Australian men's cricket team, formerly nicknamed the Western Warriors, represent the Australian state of Western Australia in Australian domestic cricket. The team is selected and supported by the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA), and plays its home games at the WACA Ground and Perth Stadium in Perth. Cameron Leon White (born 18 August 1983) is an Australian former Australia national cricket team, international cricketer who captained the national side in Twenty20 Internationals. Daniel Marsh
Daniel James Marsh (born 14 June 1973) is a former Australian cricketer who captained the Tasmanian Tigers. The son of former late Australian keeper Rod Marsh, he was a right-handed batsman and a handy slow left-arm orthodox bowler. Graham Manou
Graham Allan Manou (born 23 April 1979) is a former Australian cricketer who played for South Australia and the Melbourne Renegades in Australian domestic cricket, as well as one Test match and several One Day Internationals for the Australian national cricket team.
