The 2008–09 Indiana Pacers season was Indiana's 42nd season as a franchise and 33rd season in the NBA. Offseason On July 9 the Pacers officially announced they had made two trades, the most notable being the trade of former All Star forward Jermaine O'Neal in exchange for Toronto Raptors players T. J. Ford, Rasho Nesterovic, Maceo Baston and Roy Hibbert who was the 17th pick on the 2008 NBA draft. The Raptors also received Nathan Jawai who was the 41st pick in the draft. Also in a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers, the Pacers acquired Jarrett Jack, Josh McRoberts and Brandon Rush who was the 13th pick in the draft. The Pacers traded away Ike Diogu and Jerryd Bayless who was the 11th pick in the draft. Jim O'Brien (basketball, Born 1952)
James Francis Xavier O'Brien (born February 11, 1952) is an American basketball coach who is currently senior advisor for the Philadelphia 76ers. O'Brien was previously an assistant and head coach at both the college and NBA levels and was head coach at Wheeling Jesuit from 1982 to 1987, Dayton from 1989 to 1994, the Boston Celtics from 2001 to 2004, Philadelphia 76ers in 2004–05, and Indiana Pacers from 2007 to 2011. Early life and education O'Brien is the son-in-law of Hall of Fame coach Jack Ramsay. Born and raised in Philadelphia, O'Brien graduated from Roman Catholic High School of Philadelphia in 1970 and St. Joseph's University in 1974. Frank Vogel
Frank Paul Vogel (born June 21, 1973) is an American professional basketball coach. He previously served as the head coach for the Los Angeles Lakers, Orlando Magic and Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Vogel also previously served as an assistant coach of the Pacers, Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics. He coached the Lakers to an NBA championship in 2020. Dan Burke (basketball)
Daniel P. Burke (born April 3, 1959, in Lynwood, California) is an American basketball coach who serves as assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Coaching career Portland Trail Blazers Burke spent eight seasons (1989–1997) with the Trail Blazers and went to the playoffs each time including three Western Conference finals and two NBA Finals appearances in 1990 and 1992. During his time with the Blazers, Burke worked under Rick Adelman and P. J. Carlesimo. Indiana Pacers In 1997, Burke joined the Pacers. Lester Conner
Lester Allen Conner (born September 17, 1959) is an American professional basketball coach and former professional basketball player, who played for numerous NBA teams. On the floor at the collegiate level the 6'4" Conner was a "swingman," playing both the shooting guard and small forward positions, earning high collegiate honors as the 1982 Pac-10 Player of the Year. Conner was the 14th selection in the first round of the 1982 NBA Draft, selected by his hometown Golden State Warriors, for whom he played the first four years of his 12-season NBA career.
