2008 Twenty20 Cup
---- ---- ---- The 2008 Twenty20 Cup was the sixth edition of what would later become the T20 Blast tournament, and saw Middlesex Crusaders winning the tournament after a thrilling climax to the final against the reigning champions, the Kent Spitfires. The tournament began on 11 June 2008 before culminating in Finals Day, held at The Rose Bowl, Southampton on 26 July. The number of games rose from 79 to 97, as all teams played each other twice in the group stage. England And Wales Cricket Board
The England and Wales Cricket Board, aka ECB, is the Sports governing body, national governing body of cricket in England and Wales. It was formed on 1 January 1997 as a single governing body to combine the roles formerly fulfilled by the Test and County Cricket Board, the National Cricket Association and the Cricket Council. Ian Bell
Ian Ronald Bell (born 11 April 1982) is an English former cricketer who played international cricket in all formats for the England cricket team and county cricket for Warwickshire County Cricket Club. A right-handed higher/middle order batsman, described in ''The Times'' as an "exquisite rapier," with a strong cover drive, Bell was also an occasional right-arm medium pace bowler and a slip fielder. He was also noted for his sharp reflexes and often fielded in close catching positions. He scored twenty-two Test cricket, Test centuries and four One Day International (ODI) 100s. Tim Robinson (English Cricketer)
Robert Timothy Robinson (born 21 November 1958) is an English cricket umpire and former cricketer who played in 29 Test matches and 26 One Day Internationals for England from 1984 to 1989. He was a part of the English squad which finished as runners-up at the 1987 Cricket World Cup. Born in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, Robinson played for Nottinghamshire from 1978 to 1999, receiving his first team cap in 1983. Robinson was club captain between 1988 and 1995, and was one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1986. Robinson was educated at High Pavement Grammar School in Nottingham. Nigel Llong
Nigel James Llong (born 11 February 1969) is an English cricket umpire and former first-class cricketer. Until June 2020, he was a member of the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and officiated in international matches - Tests, ODIs and T20Is. Earlier, he had played English domestic cricket during the 1990s with Kent County Cricket Club. County Ground, Taunton
The County Ground, known for Naming rights#Stadium naming, sponsorship reasons as Cooper Associates County Ground, is a cricket ground in Taunton, Somerset. It is the home of Somerset County Cricket Club, who have played there since 1882. The ground, which is located between Priory Bridge Road and St James Street, has a capacity of 8,500. The ground was originally built as part of a sports centre by Taunton Athletic Club in 1881, and became the home of the previously nomadic Somerset County Cricket Club soon after. Having leased the ground for ten years, the club bought the ground in 1896, under the guidance of club secretary Henry Murray-Anderdon. The ground ends are the River End to the north and the Marcus Trescothick Pavilion End to the south. Nicky Boje
Nico Boje ( ; born 20 March 1973) is a South African former cricketer who played in 43 Tests, 115 One Day Internationals and single Twenty20 International for South Africa. Boje was a member of the South Africa team that won the 1998 ICC KnockOut Trophy, the only ICC trophy the country has won till date. Boje was a member of Africa XI team for 2005 Afro-Asia Cup. He is the first cap of Twenty20 Internationals for South Africa as well. He attended Grey College in Bloemfontein. He is currently coaching the Knights cricket team in the Free State, South Africa. Not Out
In cricket, a batsman is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batsman is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with, so the innings ends. Usually, two batters finish not out if the batting side declares in first-class cricket, and often at the end of the scheduled number of overs in limited overs cricket. Batters further down the batting order than the not out batters do not come out to the crease at all and are noted as ''did not bat'' rather than ''not out''; by contrast, a batter who comes to the crease but faces no balls is ''not out''. David John Grimwood Sales (born 3 December 1977) is an English cricket player who has played for the Northamptonshire, England A and Wellington cricket teams. Domestic career Sales was educated at Caterham School, an independent school in Caterham in Surrey. On his debut at the age of 16, he became the youngest scorer of a half-century in the Sunday League, scoring 70 not out against Essex. He scored 0 and 210 not out on his first-class debut for Northamptonshire against Worcestershire at Kidderminster in 1996. At 18, he became the youngest player to score a double hundred in the Championship, and in the same year, received the NBC Denis Compton Award. Ian Gould
Ian James Gould (born 19 August 1957) is an English former first-class cricketer and a former member of the ICC Elite Panel of cricket umpires. He previously also served as the chairman of English football club Burnham FC. In April 2019, Gould announced that he would retire as an umpire following the 2019 Cricket World Cup. On 6 July 2019, Gould retired from umpiring, after officiating in the World Cup match between India and Sri Lanka. However, he has since umpired in matches in the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Jeff Evans (umpire)
Jeffrey Howard Evans (7 August 1954 – 20 April 2025) was a Welsh cricket umpire who stood in over 200 first-class and List A matches after being named to the ECB Umpires List in 1999. He stood in over 100 Twenty20 matches since the inception of the format in 2003. Evans also officiated in four Women's ODIs between 2002 and 2014, as well as the match between India Women and New Zealand Women in the Women's T20 Quadrangular Series in England in 2011.
