2008 Peruvian Segunda División
The 2008 season of the Peruvian Segunda División season was the 63rd edition of the second tier of Federación Peruana de Futbol. There were 10 teams in play. Only 7 teams from last season remain. Sport Águila, from the 2007 Copa Perú, was promoted to this season's edition, and Total Clean and Deportivo Municipal were relegated from the first division. Unión Huaral was not relegated last season but they dropped out and participated in the Copa Perú. Each team will play 27 games. The teams will first play home-and-away games. The teams will then play each other for a third time. The team that will play at home is going to be determined by the results of the first two games: the one with the better aggregate will play at home. The winner and runner-up of this season will be promoted to the 2009 Torneo Descentralizado. The team that finishes last will be relegated to the 2009 Copa Perú. The Peruvian Second Division (; known simply as ''Second Division'', and Liga 2 Caja Cusco for sponsorship reasons), officially known as Liga 2, is the second-highest division in the Peruvian football league system. Founded in 1943, it is a professional and promotional division organized by the Peruvian Football Federation. Since 2025, it has been contested by 15 teams, with promotion to the Peruvian Primera División, Liga 1, and relegation to the Peruvian Tercera División, Liga 3. Club Deportivo Universidad César Vallejo is a Peruvian professional football club based in Trujillo. The club was founded on January 6, 1996 and was promoted in 2003, through the Copa Perú, to the Peruvian First Division and relegated in 2005. In 2007, they were Segunda División champions and were promoted to the first division again. The team currently plays in the Liga 2. Universidad César Vallejo has a long-standing rivalry with Carlos A. Mannucci known a ''El Clásico Trujillano''. The club's greatest accomplishment was winning the 2015 Torneo del Inca, defeating defending champions, Alianza Lima. Ica () ( Quechua: ''Ika'') is a city and the capital of the Department of Ica in southern Peru. Estadio Universidad San Marcos
The Estadio de la UNMSM is a multi-purpose stadium located in Lima, Peru, belonging to the National University of San Marcos. It was inaugurated on May 13, 1951, with a seating capacity of 32,000 and covers an area of 48,782 m2. Safety measures have been taken and they have reduced the maximum to 32,000 for the safety of the public. The stadium is used by several Peruvian teams who do not have a home ground. Estadio Municipal De Chorrillos
Estadio Municipal de Chorrillos is a municipal stadium in the Chorrillos District, Lima, Peru. It opened in 1993, and holds 12,000 people. The stadium's nickname is Cancha de los Muertos (''Field of the Dead'') because the stadium was built over a cemetery. It is the home stadium of Deportivo Municipal. History The Estadio Municipal de Chorrilo was opened in 1993, inaugurated during the 1993 Torneo Descentralizado between Deportivo Municipal against Cienciano. The Estadio Monumental (''Monumental Stadium'') is a association football, football stadium in the district of Ate District, Ate in Lima, Peru. It is the home of Club Universitario de Deportes, and it was opened in 2000 to replace the Estadio Teodoro Lolo Fernandez. Its only legal owner is the club itself. Designed by Progreso International and Gremco S.A., Uruguayan architect Walter Lavalleja Sarriés led the construction of the stadium.
