The 2008 Norwegian Figure Skating Championships was held in Tønsberg from January 11 to 13, 2008. Skaters competed in the discipline of single skating. Tønsberg
Tønsberg , historically Tunsberg, is a city and municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, eastern Norway, located around south-southwest of Oslo on the western coast of the Oslofjord near its mouth onto the Skagerrak. Free Skating
The free skating segment of figure skating, also called the free skate and the long program, is the second of two segments of competitions, skated after the short program. Its duration, across all disciplines, is four minutes for senior skaters and teams, and three and one-half minutes for junior skaters and teams. Short Program (figure Skating)
The short program of figure skating is the first of two segments of competitions, skated before the free skating program. It lasts, for both senior and junior singles and pair skaters, 2 minutes and 40 seconds. In synchronized skating, for both juniors and seniors, the short program lasts 2 minutes and 50 seconds. Vocal music with lyrics is allowed for all disciplines since the 2014-2015 season. The short program for single skaters and for pair skaters consists of seven required elements, and there are six required elements for synchronized skaters. Erle Bjoland Harstad (born 6 August 1990) is a Norwegian figure skater. She is the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Norwegian national champion. She has participated three times at the European Figure Skating Championships. Personal life Erle Bjoland Harstad was born in Bærum, Norway. She has two older sisters, five and six years older than her, who were both skating. Career Harstad began skating at the age of six. She was eleven when she landed her first triple jump, a triple toe loop. She was coached by Berit Steigedal in Asker, Norway, during the high season. She trained in Oberstdorf, Germany, and Tønsberg, Norway during the low season. Harstad represented Norway three times at the European Figure Skating Championships. 2008 World Junior Figure Skating Championships
The 2008 World Junior Figure Skating Championships were held from February 25 through March 2 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Commonly called "World Juniors" and "Junior Worlds", they are an annual figure skating competition in which elite figure skaters compete for the title of World Junior Champion. The event is open to figure skaters from ISU member nations who have reached the age of 13 by July 1 of the previous year, but have not yet turned 19. The upper age limit for men competing in pairs and dance is 21.
