2008 National League 2
2008 National League Two was a semi-professional rugby league football competition played in the United Kingdom, the third tier of the sport in the country. The top two teams of this league and the winner of the play-offs were promoted to renamed Championship (formerly National League 1). There is no relegation from this league as it is the lowest tier of professional rugby league in the UK. The competition used the points system introduced by the Rugby Football League ahead of the 2007 season in which teams earned three points for a win, two for a draw, and one bonus point for a loss by 12 points or less. 2009 RFL Championship
The 2009 RFL Championship (known as the Co-operative Championship for sponsorship reasons) was the 1st season of the RFL Championship under its current name and the 42nd season under its current league status. There was no automatic promotion to Super League due to licensing being used. Qualifying for the Grand Final is a prerequisite for Championship clubs to be able to apply for license in the next round of applications for the 2012–14 Super League licences, 2012–14 period. The Grand Final was won by Barrow Raiders, who also won the League leaders Shield, beating Halifax R.L.F.C., Halifax 26-18. Toulouse Olympique were exempt from relegation meaning Leigh Centurions were relegated along with bottom placed Doncaster R.L.F.C., Doncaster. Hunslet Hawks
Hunslet R.L.F.C. is a professional rugby league club in Beeston, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. They play home games at South Leeds Stadium and compete in Championship, the second tier of British rugby league. The club was formed as a Phoenix club after the original Hunslet club folded. History 1973–1996: New club In July 1973, the original Hunslet club was wound up following the sale of their Parkside ground, because no suitable new location could be found that was financially viable. The £300,000 proceeds of the sale of Parkside were distributed to shareholders. The London Skolars are a rugby league club based at the White Hart Lane Community Sports Centre, New River Stadium in Wood Green, London Borough of Haringey, Haringey, North London. Blackpool Panthers RLFC was an English professional rugby league club based in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire. They played at Bloomfield Road, between 2005 and 2007, then moved to the Woodlands Memorial Ground owned by Fylde rugby union club. They were members of the Rugby Football League from 2005 to 2010. History The club was founded as Blackpool West Coast Panthers in 2004 for the 2005 season, and took the place of Chorley Lynx, which had folded. The Newcastle Thunder is a professional rugby league club based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It was founded in 2000 as Gateshead Thunder, after the merger of the original Gateshead Thunder into Hull F.C. in 1999. The Thunder were based in Gateshead until 2014. In 2015, the club relocated and changed its name to Newcastle Thunder. In 2024, the Newcastle Thunder made a return to Gateshead as their playing base.
