2008 Missouri Elections
Elections were held in Missouri on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. President With a margin of just .13%, Missouri was the closest race in the 2008 Presidential Election. House of Representatives Governor Even as Barack Obama failed to carry the state, Democratic candidate Jay Nixon won the concurrent gubernatorial election by a considerably large margin. Lieutenant governor Secretary of State Incumbent Missouri Secretary of State, Secretary of State Robin Carnahan was re-elected with 61.81% of the vote, defeating Republican candidate Mitchell Hubbard. Charles Obadiah Baldwin (born May 3, 1952) is an American right-wing politician, radio host, and founder-former Independent Baptist pastor of Crossroad Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida. As of 2024 he is leading pastor of Liberty Fellowship in Kalispell, Montana. He was the presidential nominee of the Constitution Party for the 2008 U.S. presidential election and had previously been its nominee for vice president in 2004. Peter Kinder
Peter Dickson Kinder (born May 12, 1954) is an American lawyer and politician who served as the 46th Lieutenant Governor of Missouri from 2005 to 2017. He was appointed as a co-chairman of the Delta Regional Authority in August 2017, serving in that post until he resigned in June 2018. Kinder was first elected lieutenant governor in 2004, succeeding Joe Maxwell, and was re-elected in 2008 at the same time Democrat Jay Nixon was elected governor. Kenny Charles Hulshof (; born May 22, 1958) is an American politician and lawyer who represented in the United States House of Representatives. He was the unsuccessful nominee of the Republican Party for Governor of Missouri in the 2008 election. Biography Hulshof was born in Sikeston, Missouri, and is of Dutch, German, and Irish descent. Hulshof attended the University of Missouri and earned his J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law. Rosa Alicia Clemente (born April 18, 1972) is an American community organizer, independent journalist, and hip-hop activist. She was the vice presidential running mate of Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney in the 2008 U.S. presidential election.
