The following article is a summary of the 2008 Association football, football season in Kenya, the 45th competitive season in its history. Kenyan Premier League, Premier League The Premier League was sponsored by South African television channel Supersport (TV channel), SuperSport, meaning that it was broadcast live on TV after several years and offered financial benefits. Mathare United F
Mathare is a collection of slums in Nairobi with a population of approximately 500,000 people; the population of Mathare Valley alone, the oldest of the slums that make up Mathare, is 180,000 people. Mathare is the home of football teams Mathare United and Real Mathare of the MYSA. Mathare is currently part of two electoral constituencies; the titular Mathare Constituency and the northern part being in Ruaraka Constituency. The northern part was initially part of Kasarani Constituency up to the 2013 elections when Kasarani was split into three electoral constituencies; Ruaraka being among them. The southern part was domiciled in Starehe Constituency. Abaluhya Football Club Leopards Sports Club, officially abbreviated as AFC Leopards, is a Kenyan professional football club based in Nairobi. It currently competes in the Kenyan Premier League, the top tier of the Kenyan football league system, and was founded in 1964 by football lovers from the Luhya community. With 12 top-flight league titles to their name, AFC Leopards is Kenya's third most successful club behind Tusker FC (13 titles) and Gor Mahia (18 titles), the latter with whom they regularly contest the Mashemeji Derby. Nakuru (nicknamed Nax) is a city in the Rift Valley region of Kenya. It is the capital of Nakuru County, and it is the fourth largest city in Kenya and the largest in the Rift Valley region. 2009 Kenyan Premier League
The 2009 Kenyan Premier League was the sixth season of the Kenyan Premier League since it started in 2003 and the forty-sixth season of top division football in Kenya since 1963. It began on 7 February with Agrochemical and Red Berets and ended on 21 November with Sony Sugar and Western Stima. Sofapaka had an alarmingly remarkable season, having just been promoted from the Nationwide League for the first time and immediately winning the title. They also won the Kenyan Super Cup the following season. Bandari and Agrochemical were relegated at the end of the season after replacing previously relegated Mahakama and Mathare Youth. Kenyan Nationwide League
The Kenyan Nationwide League was the second-division football league in Kenya, until it was replaced by FKF Division One. There is promotion and relegation with the Kenyan Premier League and the Kenyan Provincial League. History In 2008 Nationwide league was divided into two zones with 16 teams each. In 2009 the league was again structured to contain two levels, ''Nationwide League Division One'' and ''Nationwide League Division Two'', representing the second and third levels of Kenyan league system respectively. The 2009 CAF Confederation Cup was the 6th edition of the CAF Confederation Cup, Africa's secondary club football competition organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The 2009 CAF Champions League is the 45th edition of Africa's premier club football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and the 13th edition under the current CAF Champions League format.
