Ventspils
Ventspils (; german: Windau, ; see #Other names, other names) is a state city in northwestern Latvia in the historical Courland region of Latvia, and is the sixth largest city in the country. At the beginning of 2020, Ventspils had a population of 33,906. It is situated on the Venta River and the Baltic Sea, and has an ice-free port. The city's name literally means "castle on the Venta", referring to the Ventspils Castle, Livonian Order's castle built alongside the Venta River. Tom Iveson
Tom Iveson (born 9 March 1983 in Nottingham) is a British short-track speed skater. Iveson competed at the 2010 Winter Olympics for Great Britain. In the 1000 metres, he placed fourth in his round one heat, failing to advance. He was also a member of the British relay team. He raced in the semifinal, placing 4th, advancing the British to the B Final, which the team won to finish 6th overall. As of 2013, Iveson's best performance at the World Championships came in 2008, when he won a bronze medal as part of the British relay team. His best individual finish came in 2003, a 12th-place finish in the 500 meters. He also won silver medals as a member of the British relay team at the 2003 and 2008 European Championships. Kateřina Novotná (born 12 August 1984) is a Czech short-track speed-skater and long track speed skater. Long track speed skating As a long track speed skater she was, who was active between 1995 and 2016. As a junior she became national champion in 1997 (allround) and in 2005 (500 metres). At elite level she won the bronze medal at the 2009 Czech Allround Championships. She represented her nation at the 2011 European Speed Skating Championships, finishing 19th overall. Arianna Fontana
Arianna Fontana OMRI (born 14 April 1990) is an Italian short track speed skater, who has won eleven Olympic medals among these two gold medals in the 500m short track, one at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and the second one at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Her medal haul following the 2022 Games made her the short track skater with the most Olympic medals. It also made her the Italian sportswoman with the highest number of Winter Olympic medals, one more than Stefania Belmondo. She specializes in the 500 m event. Biography Fontana started skating at the age of four, following in the footsteps of her brother Alessandro, initially on roller skates before switching to ice skating. Evgenia Radanova ( bg, Евгения Раданова; born 4 November 1977) is a Bulgarian female short track speed skater and racing cyclist who has participated in both the Summer Olympics, Summer and Winter Olympics. She was the world record holder in the 500 m short track distance with 43.671s, which she set in Calgary, Canada on 19 October 2001. In the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympic games she won a silver medal at the same distance and a bronze at 1500m. In Athens 2004 Summer games she took part in cycling, but did not get a medal. Annita Van Doorn
Annita van Doorn (born 26 April 1983) is a Dutch Short track speed skater. She made her international debut in 2003 at the World Championships for teams. Van Doorn was the first Dutch short track speed skater with a victory on a World Cup distance. She took a lap on her competitors on the 3000 meters and won the super final, surprisingly, at her second World Cup competition. In 2008, she became European Champion in the 500 meters in Ventspils, Latvia. In the overall classification she ended as 5th. She won bronze medals at the European Championships with the relay team in 2007, 2009 en 2010. In 2009 Van Doorn won her first Dutch title.
