2008 Copa Libertadores Final
The 2008 Copa Libertadores finals was a Two-legged tie, two-legged football match-up to determine the 2008 Copa Libertadores champion. The series was contested between Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito from Quito, Ecuador, and Fluminense Football Club from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, both of whom were playing in their first finals. The first leg was played at LDU Quito's home field, ''Estadio de Liga Deportiva Universitaria, La Casa Blanca'' in Quito, Ecuador on 25 June 2008; the second leg was played at Fluminense's home field, ''Estádio do Maracanã, Maracanã'' in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 2 July 2008. 2008 Copa Libertadores
The 2008 Copa Libertadores de América was the 49th edition of the Copa Libertadores, CONMEBOL's premier annual international club tournament. This marked the first year the competition was sponsored by Spanish bank Grupo Santander, Santander. As such, the competition is officially the 2008 Copa Santander Libertadores de América for sponsorship reasons. The draw took place on December 19, 2007, in Asunción. Ecuadorian club Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito, LDU Quito won the competition for the first time in a final decided on penalties. It is the first time a team from Ecuador has won the competition. LDU Quito earned a berth in the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup and 2009 Recopa Sudamericana. Away Goals Rule
The away goals rule is a method of tiebreaking in association football and other sports when teams play each other twice, once at each team's home ground. Thiago Neves Augusto (born 27 February 1985) is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Club career Born in Curitiba, Thiago Neves began his professional career with Paraná aged 20. Luciano Leguizamón
Félix Luciano Leguizamón (born 1 July 1982), known as Luciano Leguizamón, is an Argentine former footballer who played as a second striker. Career Leguizamón started his career in Gimnasia y Esgrima de Concepción del Uruguay. He then moved on to River Plate. Not having played much at River, he was loaned to Unión de Santa Fe and Polideportivo Ejido (Spain).
