2008 Canadian Figure Skating Championships
The 2008 Canadian Figure Skating Championships took place from January 16 through 20th, 2008 at the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver, British Columbia. They were the figure skating competition which determine the national champions of Canada. The event was organized by Skate Canada, the nation's figure skating governing body. Skaters competed at the senior and junior levels in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The results of this competition were used to pick the Canadian teams to the 2008 World Championships, the 2008 Four Continents Championships, and the 2008 World Junior Championships. 2008 World Figure Skating Championships
The 2008 World Figure Skating Championships was a senior international figure skating competition in the 2007–08 figure skating season. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The event was held at the Scandinavium arena in Gothenburg, Sweden from March 16 to 23. Qualification The competition was open to skaters from ISU member nations who had reached the age of 15 by July 1, 2007. The corresponding competition for younger skaters was the 2008 World Junior Championships. Based on the results of the 2007 World Championships, each country was allowed between one and three entries per discipline. National associations selected their entries based on their own criteria. Joey Russell (born June 24, 1988 in Labrador City) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. He competed at four ISU Championships; his best result was 11th, achieved at the 2007 World Junior Championships in Oberstdorf and at the 2010 Four Continents Championships in Jeonju. Fedor Vladimirovich Andreev (russian: Фёдор Владимирович Андреев, born March 2, 1982) is a former figure skater with dual Russian and Canadian citizenship. In single skating, he is the 2003 Canadian bronze medalist and the 1999 junior national champion. Ken Rose (born May 16, 1986) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. He is the 2006 Merano Cup champion and 2003 Canadian junior national champion. He won a pair of bronze medals on the ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit and placed 13th at the 2004 World Junior Championships. Kevin Reynolds (figure Skater)
Kevin Reynolds (born July 23, 1990) is a retired Canadian figure skater. He is the 2013 Four Continents champion, 2010 Four Continents bronze medallist, 2014 Winter Olympics team silver medallist and a six-time Canadian national medallist (2012–14, 2017 silver; 2010, 2016 bronze). Christopher Mabee
Christopher Mabee (born August 26, 1985) is a Canadian retired competitive figure skater. He is the 2007 Canadian national silver medalist. He announced his retirement from competitive skating in December, 2008. Early career Christopher Mabee was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario. He began skating at age seven. Mabee was coached by Paul Wirtz for a year in Montreal but, after being injured in 1998, he moved back home to be closer to his family. Mabee then trained at the Mariposa School of Skating in Barrie, Ontario, under Lee Barkell and Doug Leigh. Mabee won the silver medal on the novice level at nationals in 1998. Vaughn Chipeur (born December 21, 1984) is a former Canadian figure skater and figure-skating coach. He currently resides in Edmonton, Alberta. Jeffrey "Jeff" Buttle (born September 1, 1982) is a Canadian figure skater and choreographer. He is the 2006 Winter Olympics bronze medalist, the 2008 World champion, the 2002 and 2004 Four Continents champion and the 2005–2007 Canadian champion. On March 22, 2008, Buttle became the first Canadian man since Elvis Stojko in 1997 to win the World Title. He announced his retirement from competitive skating on September 10, 2008. The free skating segment of figure skating, also called the free skate and the long program, is the second of two segments of competitions, skated after the short program.
