2008 Atlantic Coast Conference Football Season
The 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference football season was the 56th season that the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) participated in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) college football. As a Bowl Championship Series (BCS) conference, the ACC's constituent members competed within the framework of the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The media widely recognized the 2008 season as one of the most chaotic in the conference's history. At season's end, the ACC fielded an NCAA-record of ten bowl eligible teams from its twelve conference members. Virginia Tech secured its second consecutive conference championship when it won the 2008 ACC Championship Game against Boston College. Likewise, it was the second consecutive season that Boston College finished as the conference runner-up. NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision
The NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), formerly known as Division I-A, is the highest level of college football in the United States. The FBS consists of the largest schools in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). As of the 2024 season, there are 10 conferences and 134 schools in FBS. Christopher Evenson Turner (born September 8, 1987) is an American football quarterback. He played Maryland Terrapins quarterbacks, quarterback for the Maryland Terrapins football, Maryland Terrapins at the University of Maryland, College Park, University of Maryland from 2007 to 2009. Turner began his career at Maryland as a redshirt (college sports), redshirt in 2005 and then served as a reserve quarterback before he earned the starting position. Quantavius Sturdivant (born December 5, 1988) is an American former professional football linebacker. He played as a middle linebacker for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels. He was considered one of the top linebackers in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Sturdivant was selected in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL draft by the Arizona Cardinals at pick number 171. Alex Wujciak ( ) (born April 15, 1988) is a former American football linebacker. He was signed by the Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He played college football at Maryland. Jacoby Ford (born July 27, 1987) is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver and return specialist. He was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL draft. He was also an accomplished track and field athlete. Aaron Kelly (born April 2, 1986) is a former Canadian football wide receiver. College career Aaron Kelly spent three seasons with the Clemson Tigers.
