Allsvenskan 2008, part of the 2008 Swedish football season, was the 84th Allsvenskan season played. The first match was played on 30 March 2008 and the last matches were played on 9 November 2008. Kalmar FF won their first Swedish championship title. Allsvenskan
Allsvenskan (; ), also known as Fotbollsallsvenskan (, ) is a professional association football league in Sweden and the highest level of the Swedish football league system. Founded in 1924, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Superettan, the second highest league in the Swedish football, Swedish men's football league system. Seasons run from late March or early April to the beginning of November, with the 16 clubs all meeting each other twice, resulting in a 30-match season, for a total of 240 matches league-wide. Allsvenskan is ranked 23rd in the UEFA coefficients of leagues based on performances in European competitions over the last five years. Allsvenskan is currently ranked third highest among the leagues in Scandinavia, after UEFA coefficient#Current ranking, Norway and Denmark. Trelleborgs FF
Trelleborgs Fotbollsförening, more commonly known as Trelleborgs FF or simply Trelleborg, is a Swedish football club located in Trelleborg. Formed 6 December 1926, the club plays in Superettan, the second tier in the Swedish football league system, while the women's team play in Elitettan, the women's second division. Trelleborgs FF has participated 17 times in Allsvenskan and once in the UEFA Cup where the team eliminated Blackburn Rovers in the 1994–1995 season. Sigurður Jónsson (footballer)
Sigurður Jónsson (born 27 September 1966 in Akranes), also known as The Icelandic Beast (and his son as The Icelandic Beast JR), is a retired Icelandic footballer and former coach of Swedish club Djurgården. In 2008, he featured in a ten-man shortlist for Iceland's greatest footballer of all time. Playing career Club Sigurður started his career at his hometown club IA Akranes before moving to English club Sheffield Wednesday in February 1985. He spent four years at Wednesday, including a brief spell on loan to Barnsley in 1986, playing 67 times for them. He made his English league debut against Leicester City in March 1985. He was signed by Arsenal in July 1989 for a fee of £475,000 and made his Arsenal debut at home against Manchester City on 14 October 1989. However his period at Arsenal was wrecked by injury and he made just ten appearances in all competitions for the London side, scoring once in the league against Queens Park Rangers in November 1989. Rikard Norling
Rikard Olof Norling (; born 4 June 1971) is a Swedish football manager. Forced to retire early from his professional playing career due to an injury, Rikard Norling started a coaching career at the age of 22. In his early managerial career, Norling headed IK Bele, Väsby IK and GIF Sundsvall before taking on his first major position as manager for AIK in 2005. After helping AIK secure promotion back to Allsvenskan in 2005 and finishing as runners-up in the league as newcomers in 2006, he was sacked after conflicts with the club board. He took a short break before he came back to the coaching scene as he was appointed manager for Assyriska FF. Norling managed Assyriska to a fourth-place position in Superettan in 2010. Superettan (; ) is an association football league and the second highest league in the Swedish football league system, league system of Swedish football, Swedish men's football. Mjällby Allmänna Idrottsförening, also known simply as Mjällby AIF, Mjällby or (especially locally) MAIF, is a Swedish professional football club based in Hällevik in Sölvesborg Municipality.
