2007–08 Tour De Ski
The 2007–08 Tour de Ski was the 2nd edition of the Tour de Ski and took place from 28 December 2007 until 6 January 2008. The race kicked off in Nové Město, the Czech Republic, and finished in Val di Fiemme, Italy, ten days later. It featured 8 top international cross-country skiing competitions, of which two were sprint events. 2007–08 FIS Cross-Country World Cup
The 2007–08 FIS Cross-Country World Cup was a multi-race tournament over the season for cross-country skiers. It was the 27th official World Cup season in cross-country skiing for men and ladies. The season began on 27 October 2007 with 800m sprint races for women in Düsseldorf, won by Natalia Matveeva of Russia, who took her first World Cup victory. The season concluded with World Cup Finals, a mini-tour held in Bormio, Italy. Finnish skier Virpi Kuitunen won the overall women's cup for the 2nd consecutive season and Lukáš Bauer of Czech Republic won the overall men's cup. Competitive cross-country skiing encompasses a variety of race formats and course lengths. Rules of cross-country skiing are sanctioned by the International Ski Federation and by various national organizations. International competitions include the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, and at the Cross-country skiing at the Winter Olympics, Winter Olympic Games. Therese Johaug
Therese Johaug (born 25 June 1988) is a Norwegian cross-country skier from the village of Dalsbygda in Os municipality who has competed for the clubs Tynset IF and IL Nansen. In World Ski Championships she has won ten individual gold medals along with four gold medals in relays and she is a four-time Olympic gold medallist. In October 2016, Johaug tested positive for the performance-enhancing drug clostebol. She blamed the Norwegian team medic Fredrik S. Bendiksen but was nonetheless suspended for a period of 18 months. She returned to the World Cup in 2019 and has continued to dominate women's distance competitions in the following seasons. On 4 March 2022, Therese Johaug announced her retirement from elite cross-country skiing following the 2021–2022 season. Kristin Størmer Steira (born 30 April 1981) is a retired Norwegian cross-country skier. She competed from 2002 to 2015, and won six individual World Cup victories and five individual medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships and Winter Olympic Games. She also won four gold medals with the Norway relay team. In Norwegian media, Steira was dubbed "the eternal fourth" due to her many finishes in fourth place. Riitta-Liisa Roponen (née Lassila, born 6 May 1978) is a Finnish cross-country skier who has competed since 1998. Career She won a bronze in the 4 × 5 km relay at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle (; born 27 November 1980) is a retired German cross-country skier and biathlete from Reit im Winkl who has competed since 1998. She was born in Traunstein, West Germany. Justyna Kowalczyk
Justyna Maria Kowalczyk-Tekieli (born 19 January 1983) is a Polish cross-country skier who has been competing since 2000. Kowalczyk is a double Olympic Champion and a double World Champion. She is also the only skier to win the Tour de Ski four times in a row and one of two female skiers (the other being Finn Marjo Matikainen) to win the FIS Cross-Country World Cup three times in a row. Kowalczyk holds the all-time record for wins in the Tour de Ski with 14, and had 29 podiums in total. She also won the Vasaloppet women's edition in 2015.
