The 2007–08 Slovenian Basketball League (official: 2007–08 UPC League) was the 17th season of the Premier A Slovenian Basketball League, the highest professional basketball league in Slovenia. KK Olimpija, Union Olimpija won its 14th national championship. Koper
Koper (; ) is the List of cities and towns in Slovenia, fifth-largest city in Slovenia. Located in the Slovenian Istria, Istrian region in the southwestern part of the country, Koper is the main urban center of the Slovene coast. Port of Koper is the country's only container port and a major contributor to the economy of the City Municipality of Koper, Municipality of Koper. The city is a destination for a number of Mediterranean cruising lines. Koper is also one of the main road entry points into Slovenia from Italy, which lies to the north of the municipality. The main motorway crossing is at Spodnje Škofije to the north of the city of Koper. The motorway continues into Rabuiese and Trieste. Novo Mesto
Novo Mesto (; ; also known by #Name, alternative names) is the List of cities and towns in Slovenia, seventh-largest city of Slovenia. It is the economic and cultural centre of the traditional region of Lower Carniola (southeastern Slovenia) and the seat of the City Municipality of Novo Mesto. It lies on a bend of the Krka (Sava), Krka River, close to the border with Croatia. Name Novo Mesto was attested in historical sources in 1365 as ''Růdolfswerde'' (and as ''Rudolfswerd'' in 1392 and ''Noua Mesta'' in 1419). The German name (spelled ''Rudolfswerth'' in the modern era) is a compound of the personal name ''Rudolf'' and ''wert'' 'island, peninsula, land above the water', and refers to Rudolf IV, Duke of Austria, who conferred town rights upon the settlement in 1365. Košarkarski klub Krka (English: Basketball Club Krka), commonly referred to as KK Krka or simply Krka, is a Slovenian professional basketball team based in Novo Mesto that competes in the Slovenian First League and the ABA League. They play their home games at Leon Štukelj Hall. The club is a founding member and shareholder of the Adriatic Basketball Association. History 1948–2002 The first basketball club in Novo Mesto was founded in 1948. In 1983, the club won its first Slovenian national championship. After that, however, basketball saw a decline in Novo Mesto that lasted until the Slovenian independence in 1991. Soon, the team was climbing through the lower divisions and earned a promotion to the Slovenian First League in 1997, when it also took the name of its sponsor, Krka. Sežana
Sežana (; ) is a town in the Slovenian Littoral region of Slovenia, near the border with Italy. It is the seat of the Municipality of Sežana. Sežana is located on the Karst Plateau, from Trieste, Italy, and from Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia. Name Sežana was attested in written sources in 1152 as ''in Cesan'' (and as ''Ses(s)ana'' in 1293 and ''Sexana'' in 1442). The name is of unclear origin. The early transcriptions do not support a connection with Saint Susanna or with the Friulian toponym ''Susáns''. The presumed suffix ''-ana'' would indicate a Romance origin, making possible a derivation from the Latin personal name ''Sessius''. Polzela
Polzela () is a settlement in Slovenia. It is the seat of the Municipality of Polzela. It lies on the left bank of the Savinja River extending into the Ložnica Hills () to the north. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Styria, Styria. It is now included in the Savinja Statistical Region. Buildings On a hill in the centre of the settlement is Komenda Castle, a 13th-century castle used in later centuries by the Knights Hospitaller and greatly rebuilt in the 19th century. A marble lion found at the castle and the Hospitallers' Maltese cross appear in the municipal coat of arms. A Baroque architecture, Late Baroque mansion dating to the late 18th century known as Šenek Mansion with a chapel dedicated to Saint Florian and its surrounding park to the northeast of the settlement is one of the municipality's major landmarks.
