2007–08 Chinese Basketball Association Season
The 2007–08 CBA season was the 13th CBA season. The season was shortened due to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and the regular season ended in early January 2008. Guangdong Southern Tigers won the CBA title, even after the departure of Yi Jianlian for NBA. Foreign Players Draft The draft for foreign players was held in Hawaii, United States. Regular season Xinjiang Flying Tigers finished the regular season with 26–4 in second place. Before the playoffs, it was determined that one of their players, Sou Song Cun, was not of Chinese nationality, thus violating the rule that each team may only have two foreign players. The league subsequently ruled Xinjiang loss with the score of 0–20 in all 18 matches in which Sou played, 15 of them wins originally. As a result, Xinjiang's dropped to eleventh place with 11–19, and they failed to advance to the playoffs. Chinese Basketball Association
The Chinese Basketball Association (), often abbreviated as the CBA, is the first-tier men's professional basketball league in China. The league is commonly known by fans as the CBA, and this acronym is even used in Chinese on a regular basis. The CBA should not be confused with the National Basketball League (China), National Basketball League (NBL), which is a professional minor league. There is also a Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA). A few Chinese players who competed in the CBA in the early stages of their careers—including Wang Zhizhi, Mengke Bateer, Yao Ming, Yi Jianlian, Sun Yue (basketball), Sun Yue, and Zhou Qi—have also played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Fujian Sturgeons
Fujian SBS Xunxing Sturgeons (Simplified Chinese: 福建SBS浔兴鲟) or Fujian Xunxing or Fujian SBS are a Chinese professional men's basketball team in the Chinese Basketball Association, based in Jinjiang, Quanzhou, Fujian. The "SBS" reflects corporate sponsorship from the Jinjiang-based Fujian SBS Zipper Science and Technology Corporation. Unlike all the other teams in the CBA, the team originally had no English–friendly animal–type nickname. Chris Porter (basketball)
Christopher Bernard Porter (born May 9, 1978) is an American former professional basketball player. Known for his large afro hairstyle and giant vertical leap, he created excitement early in his career with his dunking and rebounding abilities. Largely seen as too undersized to play power forward at the NBA level, his style fit in perfectly with coach Cliff Ellis' style of full court pressure while playing college basketball for the Auburn Tigers. Shanghai Sharks
The Shanghai Sharks ( zh, s=上海久事大鲨鱼, t=上海久事大鯊魚, p=Shànghǎi Jǐushì Dàshāyú) are a Chinese Basketball Association team based in Shanghai. The Sharks, who share their colors with the New York Knicks, are best known outside China for having developed Yao Ming before he entered the National Basketball Association. Xinjiang Flying Tigers
The Xinjiang Flying Tigers () is a professional basketball team based in Ürümqi, Xinjiang, China. The team plays its home games at the Urumqi Olympic Sports Center, which has a capacity for 12,000 spectators. Olumide Oyedeji (born 11 May 1981) is a Nigerian former professional basketball center. He is now President oHoops N' Readbasketball club. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for three seasons. He is the President of Nigeria Olympian Association (NOA), and the Vice President of Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC).
