All 48 seats were up for election. 24 seats were needed for a majority, with the Conservatives increasing their majority by three seats. 2011 Test Valley Borough Council Election
Elections to Test Valley Borough Council were held on 5 May 2011, the same day as the 2011 United Kingdom Alternative Vote referendum. The Conservatives maintained control of the council, with an increased majority. Candidates and results Before the election, the council consisted of 33 Conservatives, 14 Liberal Democrats and 1 Independent. Only the Conservatives contested all 48 seats. The Liberal Democrats contested 43 seats, while Labour contested 14, the UK Independence Party 7 and the Greens 2. There were also 3 independent candidates. Two wards, Bourne Valley and Over Wallop, were uncontested, meaning the Conservative candidates were elected by default. Caroline Nokes
Caroline Fiona Ellen Nokes (''née'' Perry; born 26 June 1972) is a British Conservative Party politician. She was first elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Romsey and Southampton North in Hampshire in the 2010 general election. Elected as a Conservative, Nokes had the Conservative whip removed on 3 September 2019 and sat as an independent politician until the whip was restored to her on 29 October. From 2014 to 2015 she was a Parliamentary Private Secretary to Mark Harper at the Department for Work and Pensions. 2007 English Local Elections
The 2007 UK local government elections were held on 3 May 2007. These elections took place in most of England and all of Scotland. There were no local government elections in Wales though the Welsh Assembly had a general election on the same day. There were no local government elections in Northern Ireland. Just over half of English councils and almost all the Scottish councils began the counts on Friday, rather than Thursday night, because of more complex arrangements regarding postal votes. These elections were a landmark in the United Kingdom as it was the first time that 18- to 20-year-olds could stand as candidates for council seats. The change was due to an alteration of the Electoral Administration Act.
