2007 Speedway World Cup
The 2007 Speedway World Cup (SWC) was the 7th FIM Speedway World Cup season. The Final took place on 21 July 2007 in the Alfred Smoczyk Stadium in Leszno, Poland. The tournament was won by host team Poland (55 pts) and they beat defending champion Denmark (52 pts), Australia (29 pts) and Great Britain (15 pts) in the Final. Speedway World Cup
The Speedway World Cup is a motorcycle speedway event for national teams held in different countries. The first edition of the competition in the current format was held in 2001 and replaced the old Speedway World Team Cup, World Team Cup which ran from 1960 until 2000. The competition was held annually until 2017 when it was replaced by the Speedway of Nations pairs event. The Speedway World Cup returned in 2023 and will be held every three years. Bjarne Aagaard Pedersen (born 12 July 1978 in Holstebro, Denmark) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider who represented Denmark in the Speedway World Cup, winning it on two occasions: in 2006 and 2008. Career summary Pedersen began his speedway career in 1990. He won his first title in 1994 winning a Danish junior pairs championship with Charlie Gjedde. However, he did not ride as a full-time professional until 2000. Pedersen began his United Kingdom racing career in with the Newcastle Diamonds in the Premier League. He took part in his first two Speedway Grand Prix events in 2002, both as a wild card. His first full Speedway Grand Prix season came in 2003, but it was not until 2004 when Pedersen won his only Grand Prix to date at the European GP in Wrocław. Nicki Pedersen
Nicki Pedersen (born 2 April 1977) is a Danish motorcycle speedway rider. He is a three time world champion having won the World Championship in 2003, 2007 and 2008. He has also won the World Cup with Denmark in 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014. Career Pedersen began speedway racing aged 11 at Danish club Fjelsted. He stayed at the club until a move to in 1998 to Holstebro, the same year that he made his British league debut with Newcastle Diamonds in the 1998 Premier League speedway season. He topped the League averages which began his journey towards the pinnacle of the sport. He started his Polish speedway career in 1999 with Polish Speedway First League club Start Gniezno and would go on to ride for ten different Polish sides. Niels Kristian Iversen
Niels Kristian Trochmann Iversen (, born 20 June 1982 in Esbjerg, Denmark) is an international motorcycle speedway rider. He is a seven times national champion of Denmark and was part of the Danish teams that won the Speedway World Cup in 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014. Early life Niels-Kristian Trochmann was born 20 June 1982 in Esbjerg, Denmark to Ann Marie and Flemming Iversen. Growing up with older brother Soren, Iversen decided he want to be a speedway rider. His local town Esbjerg had a track where Iversen began to learn his desired trade. Quickly moving up the ranks in Denmark, his first title came in 1994 at the 50cc Danish Individual Championship. Kenneth Bjerre
Kenneth Bjerre Jensen (born 24 May 1984 in Esbjerg, Denmark) is a Danish international motorcycle speedway rider. He earned 17 caps for the Denmark national speedway team. Career Bjerre began his Polish league career in 2001 for Ostrów. The following season he began his career in Britain when he joined the Newcastle Diamonds for the 2002 Premier League speedway season. Over the following decade he would become a heat leader for both Belle Vue Aces (2004 to 2006) and Peterborough Panthers (2007 to 2010). Damian Baliński (born 5 August 1977, in Poland) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Poland. He earned two international caps for the Poland speedway team. Career He was a member of the Poland national speedway team. Remarkably, in 29 seasons of Polish speedway he has only ridden for three clubs Unia Leszno, Rybnik and Rawicz. Grzegorz Walasek
Grzegorz Walasek (born 29 August 1976) is a Polish motorcycle speedway rider who has competed in the Speedway Grand Prix series and earned 15 international caps for the Poland national speedway team. Career Born in Krosno Odrzańskie, Poland, Walasek began his senior career in 1993 with ZKŻ Zielona Góra, and won the Polish Under-21 Championship in 1997. In 2000, he began riding in the UK with Poole Pirates. In 2004, he won the senior Polish individual championship. He was part of the Polish team that won the Speedway World Cup in 2005 and 2007. Rune Holta
Rune Holta (born 29 August 1973 in Stavanger, Norway) is a speedway rider. He grew up in Randaberg, Norway, but has been a Polish citizen since 2002. Career In 1994, Holta finished runner-up to Mikael Karlsson in the final of the 1994 Speedway Under-21 World Championship following a run-off for the title. This was the same year that Holta won the first of his four Norwegian Individual Speedway Championships. In 2002, he took Polish citizenship, allowing him to represent Poland in international competitions and was a member of their Speedway World Cup winning teams in 2005, 2007 and 2010. Tomasz Robert Gollob (; born 11 April 1971 in Bydgoszcz, Poland) is a former Polish motorcycle speedway rider. He appeared in every Speedway Grand Prix series between its inaugural season in 1995 and 2013. He earned 52 caps for the Poland national speedway team. Career summary Tomasz Gollob spent almost all of his career with hometown club Bydgoszcz until he moved to Unia Tarnów in 2004. Jarosław "Jarek" Hampel (; born 17 April 1982 in Łódź, Poland) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Poland. He is a six times World Cup winner and earned 24 caps for the Poland national speedway team.
