Arild Andersen
Arild Andersen (born 27 October 1945) is a Norwegian jazz musician bassist, known as the most famous Norwegian bass player in the international jazz scene. Career Andersen was born at Strømmen, Norway. He started his musical career as jazz guitarist in the Riverside Swing Group in Lillestrøm (1961–63), started playing double bass in 1964, and soon became part of the core jazz bands in Oslo. He was a member of Roy Hellvin Trio, was in the backing band at Kongsberg Jazz Festival in 1967 and 1968, was elected Best Bassist by Jazznytt in 1967, and started as bass player in the Jan Garbarek Quartet (1967–1973), including Terje Rypdal and Jon Christensen. Bergenfest
Bergenfest (initiated in 1993 under the name OleBlues) is an annual music festival held in the month of June, in Bergen, Norway, at the Bergenhus Fortress. History It started out as an intimate blues and Americana festival, situated at various venues in the city center of Bergen. Bergenfest has since then grown into what is now one of the leading music events in Norway, with a much more diverse music profile and a significantly bigger audience. In 2012, the festival changed to an outdoor event, and are now situated in the historically and aesthetically stimulating surroundings at Bergenhus Fortress. Notodden Blues Festival
Notodden Blues Festival (NBF) is one of the largest blues music festivals in Europe and the largest in Scandinavia. The festival is held in Notodden, Norway, usually the first weekend August. It has been running annually since 1988. The festival does not aim to be the biggest of its type, but to become Europe's "largest blues experience", which is reflected in their emphasis on quality over quantity. History In 1988, thirteen local blues enthusiasts gave their personal guarantee to the bank and were granted a cash credit, and the first Notodden Blues Festival took place. The credit from the bank turned out to be unnecessary, and the festival soon became one of Norway's most popular music festivals. Radka Toneff Memorial Award
Radka Toneff Memorial Award (established in 1993) is a Norwegian award given to individuals who are acting in the spirit of Norwegian jazz singer Radka Toneff. The award amounts to 25,000 Norwegian kroner and is managed by the Radka Toneff Memorial Fund with royalty income from her two releases ''Fairytales'' (1982) and ''Live in Hamburg'' (1993) on the label Odin Records. The ceremony took place at Moldejazz until 2007. Arve Henriksen
Arve Henriksen (born 22 March 1968) is a Norwegian trumpeter. Career Henriksen was born in Stranda Municipality and educated on the Jazz program at Norges Teknisk-Naturvitenskapelige Universitet, Trondheim Musikkonservatorium; he later studied music pedagogy, while he played in Bodega Band (1987–88), Luft (1987–89), Veslefrekk from 1989, Close Enough 1990–92, Nutrio from 1990, and recorded with Bjørn Alterhaug and Tre Små Kinesere (1990). After graduating in 1991, he joined the Trio Midt-Norge and Piggy Bop. Molde
Molde () is a List of towns and cities in Norway, town and the seat of Molde Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. Moldejazz
Molde International Jazz Festival (MIJF) or Moldejazz (established 1961 in Molde Municipality) takes place annually in July, and is known as one of the oldest jazz festivals in Europe. It was initiated by the local Storyville Jazz Club. Since 1964 it has received government support, and the government Buddy Award was for several years awarded at this festival. To the extent Molde festival operates with records, is probably the bassist Bjørn Kjellemyr holder of "Most festivals in a row" musicians record. In 2015 he visits Moldejazz for the 17th time in row as performer. Two club gigs with Dag Arnesen's band is on the program for the versatile bassist. Kongsberg () is a historical mining town and municipality in Buskerud county, Norway. The city is located on the river Numedalslågen at the entrance to the valley of Numedal. Oslo
Oslo ( or ; ) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Norwegian Wood was an annual music festival in Oslo, Norway, held in Frognerbadet. The name of the festival refers to the Beatles song "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)". History Norwegian Wood was initiated in 1992 by Jørgen Roll, Sten Fredriksen and Haakon Hartvedt.
