Juan Manuel Gárate
Juan Manuel Gárate Cepa (born 24 April 1976 in Irun) is a Spanish professional road racing cyclist, who last rode for the team. He is perceived to be a climbing specialist, and to date his greatest achievements have been in the Giro d'Italia, where he placed fourth overall in 2002, tenth overall in the 2004, fifth overall in 2005 and won the Mountains classification with a seventh overall at the 2006 Giro d'Italia. He also won the Spanish National Championship road race in 2005. Leonardo Bertagnolli (born 8 January 1978 in Trento) is a retired Italian professional road bicycle racer, who rode as a professional between 2002 and 2012. Career Bertagnolli turned professional in 2002 with . He signed for , a new team in the 2009 season, though he switched teams to prior to the start of the Giro d'Italia. Bertagnolli announced his retirement from the sport after competing in the Italian National Championships in June 2012. It later emerged that the Union Cycliste Internationale had launched disciplinary proceedings into Bertagnolli, in the light of an alleged anti-doping violation via his biological passport, and he was given a sanction of 2 years and ten months as well as disqualified from results between 1 January 2003 to 18 May 2011. Giovanni Visconti (born 13 January 1983) is a former Italian professional road racing cyclist, who last rode for UCI ProTeam . Professional career Early career Born in Turin, Visconti won his first race in 2006 at the Coppa Sabatini. One year later, he won the Italian National Road Race Championships on 1 July 2007, beating Paolo Bossoni () and Davide Rebellin () at the end in a sprint. Iñigo Landaluze Intxaurraga (born May 9, 1977 in Getxo, Basque Country) is a Spanish former professional road bicycle racer, who rode professionally between 2001 and 2009, entirely for the team. During the 2009 season, Landaluze tested positive for the use of Continuous erythropoietin receptor activator (CERA) at the 2009 Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré. He received a two-year ban for this, and was disqualified from his results at the race. Doping In 2005 Landaluze made his breakthrough by winning the 2005 Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré. However his win was clouded in controversy as it was soon announced he had tested positive for abnormally high testosterone and was suspended from racing until his case was heard out. Carlos Sastre Candil (; born 22 April 1975) is a former Spanish professional road bicycle racer and winner of the 2008 Tour de France. He consistently achieved outstanding results in the Vuelta a España and in the Tour de France. Sastre established himself as a strong and stable climbing specialist, and after working to improve his individual time trial skills, he became a contender for the top GC spots in the Grand Tours. In total, Sastre finished in the top ten of fifteen Grand Tours during his career, and finished on the podium of each of them. Sastre never tested positive for drugs, nor was he implicated in any doping investigation, even though he performed at the top level of cycling. Carlos Barredo Llamazales (born 5 June 1981, in Oviedo, Asturias) is a Spanish former road racing cyclist, who competed as a professional between 2004 and 2012. He was issued a suspension for the first two months of the 2011 season in response to a fight with Rui Costa after a 2010 Tour de France stage, with Barredo claiming that Costa had ridden dangerously in the final stages of the race, but later apologising for his actions. Doping Barredo was suspended by on 18 October 2012 after the UCI opened proceedings for apparent violations of the Anti-Doping Rules on the basis of the information provided by the blood profile in his biological passport. 2007 UCI ProTour
The 2007 UCI ProTour was the third year of the UCI ProTour system. Following a dispute and power struggle between the UCI and the organisers of the Grand Tours, ASO, RCS and Unipublic, a number of events were run as ProTour events, although without ProTour licences. Races counted towards the ProTour standings, although the organisers were not obliged to invite all 20 UCI ProTeams, notably not inviting Unibet.com. After numerous doping scandals in previous years, culminating with Floyd Landis' doping scandal in the 2006 Tour de France, the team was disbanded when the new title sponsor, iShares, decided to cease sponsoring and pull out of cycling.
