2006–07 Chinese Basketball Association Season
The 2006–07 CBA season is the 12th CBA season. The season ran from October 7, 2006 to March 28, 2007. The North-South Division system was abolished. Zhejiang Lions joined the CBA in this season. Foreign Players Draft The draft for foreign players was held in Eugene, United States. Regular Season Standings Playoffs In the first round of the playoffs, top 4 teams may choose their opponents from the other 4 teams, they may also choose their place in the bracket. In the Final series, Bayi Rockets defeated Guangdong Southern Tigers (4-1). Teams in bold advanced to the next round. The numbers to the left of each team indicate the team's seeding in regular season, and the numbers to the right indicate the number of games the team won in that round. Home court advantage belongs to the team with the better regular season record; teams enjoying the home advantage are shown in italics. Chinese Basketball Association
The Chinese Basketball Association (), often abbreviated as the CBA, is the first-tier men's professional basketball league in China. The league is commonly known by fans as the CBA, and this acronym is even used in Chinese on a regular basis. The CBA should not be confused with the National Basketball League (China), National Basketball League (NBL), which is a professional minor league. There is also a Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA). A few Chinese players who competed in the CBA in the early stages of their careers—including Wang Zhizhi, Mengke Bateer, Yao Ming, Yi Jianlian, Sun Yue (basketball), Sun Yue, and Zhou Qi—have also played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Liaoning Hunters
The Liaoning Flying Leopards (), also known as the Liaoning Shenyang Sansheng Flying Leopard Club or Liaoning Bengang (), are a Chinese professional basketball team based in Hunnan District, Shenyang, Liaoning, which plays in the Northern Division of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). The team used to play their home games at the Benxi Gymnasium in Benxi, but relocated to Shenyang in the 2017–18 season. The biopharmacy company 3SBio Inc. is the club's corporate sponsor. The team plays at the Liaoning Gymnasium. Founded in 1953, Liaoning became a fully professional organization and member of the CBA in 1995, and since then they have won four championships. Ernest Brown (basketball)
Ernest Brown (born May 17, 1979, in the Bronx, New York) is an American former professional basketball player who was selected in the second round of the 2000 NBA draft by the Miami Heat. He played collegiately for the Indian Hills Community College. He played three games for them during the 2001-02 NBA season before being waived, and was also later signed and waived by the Boston Celtics; he has spent most of his career in the NBDL and other minor/foreign leagues. The Jilin Northeast Tigers () or Jilin Tonggang, Jilin Tonggang Northeast Tigers () or Jiutai Rural Commercial Bank are a professional basketball team based in Changchun, Jilin, China, which plays in the North Division of the Chinese Basketball Association. The Shanghai Sharks ( zh, s=上海久事大鲨鱼, t=上海久事大鯊魚, p=Shànghǎi Jǐushì Dàshāyú) are a Chinese Basketball Association team based in Shanghai. The Sharks, who share their colors with the New York Knicks, are best known outside China for having developed Yao Ming before he entered the National Basketball Association. Fujian SBS Xunxing Sturgeons (Simplified Chinese: 福建SBS浔兴鲟) or Fujian Xunxing or Fujian SBS are a Chinese professional men's basketball team in the Chinese Basketball Association, based in Jinjiang, Quanzhou, Fujian. Chris Porter (basketball)
Christopher Bernard Porter (born May 9, 1978) is an American former professional basketball player. Known for his large afro hairstyle and giant vertical leap, he created excitement early in his career with his dunking and rebounding abilities. Largely seen as too undersized to play power forward at the NBA level, his style fit in perfectly with coach Cliff Ellis' style of full court pressure while playing college basketball for the Auburn Tigers. The Zhejiang Golden Bulls are a Chinese professional basketball team based in Yiwu, Zhejiang, China. It competes in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), in the Southern Division. Soumaila Samake
Soumaila Samake (born March 18, 1978) is a Malian former professional basketball player. A 7'0" tall center, he was drafted by the New Jersey Nets in the second round of the 2000 NBA draft, and played for the Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers. He scored 68 points and grabbed 76 rebounds in 47 NBA games between 2000 and 2003. His final NBA game was played on December 4, 2002, in a 85–93 loss to the Utah Jazz where he played for 2 minutes and recorded no stats. While playing with the Lakers in 2002, Samake was suspended five games after testing positive for Nandrolone, an anabolic steroid. Samake said that he had accidentally ingested the substance while taking a dietary supplement.
