The 2006–07 Biathlon World Cup was a multi-race tournament over a season of biathlon, organised by the International Biathlon Union. The season lasted from 29 November 2006 to 18 March 2007. Michael Greis
Michael Greis (; born 18 August 1976) is a German former biathlete. Career Greis first competed at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, finishing 15th and 16th in the 10 km sprint and 12.5 km pursuit events in the biathlon. Greis won the World Cup in the individual category in 2004/05, and was a member of the winning 4 × 7.5 km relay team in the 2004 Biathlon World Championships, and took silver in the individual 20 km category at the 2005 World Championships. At the 2006 Winter Olympics, Greis came into the games heading the World Cup standings and took the first Olympic gold of the games with victory in the individual 20 km ahead of the defending Olympic champion Ole Einar Bjørndalen. He was also a member of the German team that won the 4 × 7.5 km relay. Hochfilzen
Hochfilzen is a town and municipality in the Kitzbühel (district), Kitzbühel district of the Austrian state of Tyrol (state), Tyrol. It is located in the Pillersee valley 5 km east of Fieberbrunn. Matthias Simmen
Matthias Simmen (born in Altdorf, Uri on ) is a retired Swiss biathlete. He competed in the 2002, 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics for Switzerland. His best finish was 9th, as a member of the Swiss relay team in 2010. His best individual performance was 23rd, in the 2006 pursuit. He earned one Biathlon World Cup podium finish, 3rd in the sprint event in the 2006/07 event at Hochfilzen. That was the first podium finish ever for a Swiss biathlete. Dmitri Yaroshenko
Dmitri Vladimirovich Yaroshenko (; born 4 November 1976) is a Russian former biathlete. He broke through during the 2006–07 season at the age of 30, after winning a European Championship silver medal in 2004. He won one victory in the Biathlon World Cup, the Hochfilzen sprint in 2007. However, ahead of the 2009 World Championships, it was announced that Yaroshenko had tested positive for a banned substance. Yaroshenko subsequently received a two-year ban from competition. After being unable to return to his former level and the World Cup, bar one race, after the end of the ban, Yaroshenko retired after the 2012–13 season. Andreas Birnbacher
Andreas Birnbacher (born 11 September 1981) is a former German biathlete. His biggest successes were the silver medal in the mass start event at the 2007 World Championships and the gold medal in the mixed relay at the 2008 World Championships. He also won the bronze medal at the 2012 world championships in Ruhpolding when he was part of the German teams that finished third in the mixed relay and the men's relay. Rasen-Antholz (; ) is a municipality in South Tyrol in northern Italy. Geography The municipal area stretches along the Antholz valley, a northern side valley of the larger Puster Valley.
