2006–07 A1 Grand Prix Of Nations, Beijing, China
The 2006-07 A1 Grand Prix of Nations, China was an A1 Grand Prix race, held on November 12, 2006 at Beijing International Streetcircuit, Beijing, China. It was the third race in the 2006-07 A1 Grand Prix season and the first and the only meeting held at the circuit. Due to various safety concerns, the circuit was shortened, and the races started behind the safety car, with the Sprint Race was run mostly behind the safety car. These incidents led to questions about the management and organization of both the event and A1GP in general, eventually leading to series' collapse in 2009. Following the incident and the track's lack of funding, the first Chinese race of the season was moved to Zhuhai International Circuit for the 2007-08 season. Beijing International Streetcircuit
The Jingkai Street Circuit, also known as the Beijing International Street Circuit, was a street circuit in Yizhuang, a suburb 10 miles (15 km) to the south-east of central Beijing. It was first used on the weekend of 10–12 November 2006 for the third round of the A1GP. China became the only country to host two events in the 2006–07 A1 Grand Prix series. It was announced in the ''Shanghai Daily'' on March 23, 2007 that, due to lack of funding, no further A1 Grand Prix races were scheduled to be held in Beijing. The report suggested that preparing the street circuit for the race cost about 20 million yuan ($2.6 million). A1 Team Great Britain is the British team of A1 Grand Prix, an international racing series. A1 Team New Zealand is the New Zealand team of A1 Grand Prix, an international racing series. Management The team was formed by and is owned by prominent Auckland businessman Colin Giltrap, well known for this car dealerships. The team is managed by Kiwi Bob McMurray who retired last year after nearly 30 years involvement with the McLaren Formula One racing team. The car is run by David Sears' organisation, Super Nova Racing, as is the A1 Team Germany car, meaning that the two teams are often thought of as one. Michael Devaney (racing Driver)
Michael Devaney (born 29 November 1984 in Dublin) is an Irish racing driver. Career overview Michael Devaney has been racing since 1997 when he had a successful stint in the Irish Junior Karting Championship winning the All-Ireland and National Championships. He moved into Irish Formula Ford Championship in 2001 aged 16 winning many races, he then moved on to German Formula BMW in 2002 and won in just his second racahead of Nico Rosberg. Neel Jani (born 8 December 1983) is a Swiss professional Porsche factory driver. His father is from India and his mother is German Swiss. Tomáš Enge (; born 11 September 1976) is a Czech former professional racing driver who has competed in many classes of motorsport, including three races in Formula One. He has twice been sanctioned professionally for drug offences.
