2006 RCA Championships
The 2006 RCA Championships was a tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 19th edition of the event known that year as the Indianapolis Tennis Championships, RCA Championships, and was part of the ATP International Series, International Series of the 2006 ATP Tour. It took place at the Indianapolis Tennis Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States, from July 17 through July 24, 2006. It was the first event of the 2004 US Open Series, US Open series. The singles draw featured Americans James Blake (tennis), James Blake (seeded #3), Andy Roddick (2003 US Open (tennis), 2003 U.S. Open champion – #2) and Robby Ginepri (#4) as three of the top four seeds. ATP International Series
The ATP International Series (known from 1990 to 1999 as the ATP World Series) was a series of professional tennis tournaments held internationally as part of the ATP Tour from 2000 to 2008. The series was renamed ATP Tour 250 in 2009. International Series offered players cash prizes (tournaments have purses from $416,000 to $1,000,000) and the ability to earn ATP ranking points. They generally offered less prize money and fewer points than the ATP International Series Gold, but more than tournaments on the ATP Challenger Series. 2003 US Open (tennis)
The 2003 US Open was held between August 25 – September 7, 2003. Both Pete Sampras and Serena Williams did not defend their titles from 2002; Sampras unofficially retired after winning his final Grand Slam title the previous year, and Serena Williams was forced to miss the tournament after withdrawing through injury. This was the first time since 1971 in which neither champion was able to defend their title. Andy Roddick, who previously won the 2000 US Open as a junior, won his only Grand Slam title, defeating Juan Carlos Ferrero (who inherited the World No.1 ranking after the tournament) in the final. Paul Goldstein (tennis)
Paul Herbert Goldstein (born August 4, 1976) is a retired tennis player from the United States, who turned professional in 1998. He announced his retirement from professional tennis in February 2008, as he was starting working with a clean energy company. As a junior, he won the USTA Boys' 16s National Championship in 1992, and the USTA Boys' 18s National Championships in both 1993 and 1994. He then played college tennis at Stanford University, from which he graduated after a career in which he was named an All-American each of the four years he played, and the team won the national championship each year. He won the gold medal in singles at the 1999 Pan American Games. The right-hander reached career-high ATP Tour rankings of World No. 58 in singles in April 2006, and World No. 40 in doubles in February 2007. He is now head coach of the Stanford Men's tennis team. Mercedes Benz Cup
The Los Angeles Open was a former tennis tournament held in Los Angeles, United States from 1927 until 2012. It included a women's draw until 1974 when Linda Lewis won the last ladies title. Subsequently, it became a men-only event and integrated into the ATP's professional tennis circuit. The inaugural edition of the event, known as the Pacific Southwest Championships, was organized by Perry T. Jones and held at the Los Angeles Tennis Club (LATC) starting in October 1927. The Delray Beach Open is an ATP World Tour 250 series men's professional tennis tournament held each year in Delray Beach, Florida, United States. Played on hard courts, it was previously known as America's Red Clay Championships, Citrix Tennis Championships, and the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships. Robert Louis Ginepri ( ; born October 7, 1982) is an American former professional tennis player. He won three ATP singles titles in his career and achieved a career-high ranking of World No. 15 in December 2005. US Open Series
The US Open Series was the name given by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) to a series of North American professional tennis tournaments leading up to and including the US Open. It was part of the "North American hard-court season". History The Series was initially organized in 2004 as a way to focus more attention on American tennis tournaments by getting more of them on domestic television.
