2006 North West 200
The 2006 North West 200 Races took place on Saturday 13 May 2006 at the 8.966 mile circuit, dubbed "The Triangle", based around the towns of Portstewart, Coleraine and Portrush, in Northern Ireland. Steve Plater and Bruce Anstey both scored double victories at the meeting. Robert Dunlop also recorded the last of his 15 victories, winning the 125 cc event. The current course lap record was set by Steve Plater at during the Supersport race. North West 200
The International North West 200 is a motorcycle racing, motorcycle road racing, road race first held in 1929 on a street circuit known as "the Triangle" between the towns of Portstewart, Coleraine and Portrush in Causeway Coast and Glens. It is the largest annual sporting event in Northern Ireland, with the race weekend attracting over 150,000 visitors from all over the world. The course is one of the fastest in the world, with average speeds of and top speeds in excess of . Originally intended to be held somewhere in the north west of Ireland and organised by the City of Derry & District Motor Club, the initial meeting was moved to the north coast but the name was never changed. Ian Hutchinson (motorcycle Racer)
Ian Hutchinson (born 12 August 1979 in Bingley, West Yorkshire) is an English professional motorcycle road racer specialising in events held on closed public roads, such as the Isle of Man TT, the North West 200 and Ulster Grand Prix. Hutchinson's most successful racing year was in 2010, when he set the record of winning the most races in a single Isle of Man TT festival in June, achieving five solo wins, preceded by Supersport class at the North West 200 in Northern Ireland. At a British Supersport round in September, Hutchinson crashed in wet conditions soon after the start suffering a badly broken left leg after being hit by a following rider's machine. William Dunlop (motorcycle Racer)
William Dunlop (23 July 1985 – 7 July 2018) was a professional motorcycle racer from Northern Ireland. Part of a motorcycle racing dynasty, William was the elder brother of Michael Dunlop, Michael Dunlop; both were sons of the late Robert Dunlop, and nephews of the late Joey Dunlop. He died as a result of a crash at a racing event in the Republic of Ireland. Career William started racing 125 cc bikes in 2000 when he was 15 years old. Michael Karl Rutter (born 18 April 1972 in Wordsley, Staffordshire) nicknamed "The Blade", is a British motorcycle racer. He races in the National Superstock 1000 Championship aboard a BMW S1000RR. He has a reputation for being at his best in wet conditions and his favourite circuit is Oulton Park. He won 29 British Superbike Championship races with the most recent being at Silverstone Circuit, Silverstone in 2010, and finished as series runner-up twice. Adrian Archibald
Adrian James Archibald (born 1969) is a motorcycle racer from Northern Ireland. Archibald, who was born in Ballymoney, has three career wins in the Isle of Man TT, including two races in 2003 riding for TAS Suzuki. The 2003 races were overshadowed by the death of Archibald's team-mate, David Jefferies. Archibald left the TAS team at the end of 2005 to move to AIM Racing Yamaha for the 2006 season, but when Ryan Farquhar was injured at the Cookstown 100 races at the end of April, he rejoined the TAS Suzuki team, after the North West 200 races. Stuart Easton (born 21 July 1983 in Hawick) is a British former professional motorcycle racer. He announced his retirement from racing in December 2016. For the first part of 2016, Easton rode in the British Superbike Championship for Tommy Hill's Yamaha team, but was replaced by Broc Parkes from August.
