2006 NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour
The 2006 NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour was the second season of the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour (WSMT). It began with the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour 150 at Caraway Speedway on March 25. It ended with the Night of the Modifieds 100 at Southern National Motorsports Park on October 21. Junior Miller, who entered the season as the defending championship, would win his second and last championship in the series, six points ahead of series runner up Tim Brown. Whelen Southern Modified Tour
The Southern Modified Auto Racing Teams (SMART) Tour is a Modified stock car racing series racing in the Southeastern United States, Southeastern region of The United States. The series began in 1989, NASCAR took over the series in 2005. During its time as a NASCAR sanctioned series it followed identical regulations to the Northern NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. The series merged with the Northern Modified Tour in 2017 bringing an end to the series after almost 30 years. The series came back in late 2020 without NASCAR sanction under the SMART Tour name and ran its first full season since 2004 in 2021 with the likes of Bobby Labonte and Ryan Preece competing. Brian Loftin (born July 29, 1977) is an American professional stock car racing driver who competed in the now defunct NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour from 2005 to 2014. He is the father of Carson Loftin, who currently competes part-time in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. Loftin is a former champion of the Southern Modified Tour, having won the championship in 2008, where he won Three races and eleven pole positions. Theodore Christopher (June 5, 1958 – September 16, 2017) was an American professional racing driver and business owner who raced and won in many different types of race cars, including Modifieds, SK Modifieds, ISMA, Camping World East Series, Late Models, Pro Stocks, and Midgets. William Burton Myers (born December 30, 1975) is an American professional stock car racing driver who competes full-time on the SMART Modified Tour, and part-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 50 Chevrolet ZL1 for Team AmeriVet. Kenly, North Carolina
Kenly is a town in Johnston and Wilson counties in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It was named for John R. Kenly, Northern Division Superintendent of the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad, who later became president of the railroad in 1913. The population was 1,339 at the 2010 census, down from 1,569 in 2000.
