2006 Legends Tour ...
The 2006 Legends Tour schedule featured four events showcasing professional women golfers aged 45 and older sanctioned by the LPGA Tour. Based in the United States, it is the official senior tour of the LPGA Tour. The tour was founded in 2000 by 25 veteran LPGA Tour players, and is intended to allow women to prolong their competitive golf careers on the model of the successful Champions Tour for men. Schedule and results The Tour consisted of four events in 2006. The number in brackets after each winner's name is the number of Legends Tour events she had won up to and including that tournament. The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) is an American organization for female golfers. The organization is headquartered at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida, and is best known for running the LPGA Tour, a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite women professional golfers from around the world. Champions Tour
PGA Tour Champions (formerly the Senior PGA Tour and the Champions Tour) is a men's professional senior golf tour, open to golfers age 50 and over, administered as a branch of the PGA Tour. History and format The Senior PGA Championship, founded in 1937, was for many years the only high-profile tournament for golfers over 50. The idea for a senior tour grew out of a highly successful event in 1978, the Legends of Golf at Onion Creek Club in Austin, Texas, which featured competition between two-member teams of some of the greatest older golfers of that day. The tour was formally established in 1980 and was originally known as the Senior PGA Tour until October 2002. Patty Sheehan
Patty Sheehan (born October 27, 1956) is an American professional golfer. She became a member of the LPGA Tour in 1980 and won six major championships and 35 LPGA Tour events in all. She is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame. Sheehan also hosts thPatty Sheehan & Friends which is a tournament on the Legends Tour. Patty Sheehan & Friends helps aid women and children's charities all across Northern Nevada. Amateur career Sheehan was born in Middlebury, Vermont. She was rated one of the top junior snow skiers in the country as a 13-year-old. She attended Earl Wooster High School in Reno, Nevada.
