2006 International GT Open
The 2006 International GT Open season was the inaugural season of the International GT Open, the grand tourer-style sports car racing founded by the Spanish GT Sport Organización. It began on 1 April at Autodromo Nazionale Monza and finished on 12 November, at Barcelona after five double-header meetings with one single race round. Overall championship and GTA class was won by Playteam SaraFree driver Michele Bartyan, while GTB class title was clinched by Fabrizio Gini and GTS class by Andrea Belicchi and Stefano Zonca. International GT Open
The International GT Open is a grand tourer-style sports car racing series founded in 2006 by the Spanish GT Sport Organización. It was a spin-off of the now-defunct Spanish GT Championship, but is now a distinct series featuring FIA GT3-spec cars modified from production road cars. Format The series consists of events in various European countries which feature two races over a weekend. In its first year, the races had an identical format to the Spanish GT Championship, with two 200 km races, the first held on Saturday and the second the following Sunday. Three of the six rounds were joint events for the Open and the Spanish GT Championship. In 2007, the first race, known as ''Pro-Am'', covers approximately 200 km distance, while the second race is 150 km and known as ''GT Open''. The Circuito do Estoril or Autódromo do Estoril (Estoril Circuit), officially known as Autódromo Fernanda Pires da Silva, is a motorsport race track on the Portuguese Riviera, outside of Lisbon, owned by state-run holding management company Parpública. Victory Engineering
Victory Engineering was a racing team based on Rome, Italy, involved in many areas of motorsport. The team was founded in 2002 by Gabriele De Bono, as part of Carlin Motorsport. Cheste ( Valencian: Xest) is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of Hoya de Buñol in the Valencian Community, Spain, located 26 km from the capital Valencia. Circuit Ricardo Tormo, also known as ''Circuit de Valencia'' and officially named ''Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo'', is a motorsport race track located in Cheste (Valencian Community, Spain) and built in 1999. The track is named after Spanish, two-time world champion Grand Prix motorcycle racer Ricardo Tormo (1952–1998), who died in 1998 of leukemia. It has a capacity of 165,000 and a main straight of . Peter Sundberg
Peter Hans Sundberg (born 10 May 1976) is a Swedish car racing driver with titles in several categories. He was born and grew up in the south of Spain, spending his teen years riding motocross. Sundberg finished near the top of numerous Formula Renault championships, then going into Formula Three where he won the Italian Formula Three Championship in 1999. He competed in the World Cup Formula 3 races in Macau and Korea, and went on to test for the Minardi Formula One team at the end of that year. Afterwards he competed in Spanish F3 and Japanese F3. He competed in the World Series by Nissan in 2002. Andrea Montermini
Andrea Montermini (born 30 May 1964) is an Italian racing driver. Career Montermini raced in Formula 3 in 1989, taking second place in the Monaco GP support race and 4th in the Italian F3 Championship. He then moved up to Formula 3000, racing for three seasons before finally taking second place in the 1992 season, winning three rounds while driving for the Il Barone Rampante team. He participated in 29 Formula One Grands Prix, debuting on 29 May 1994 for Simtek, replacing Roland Ratzenberger, who had been killed during qualifying for the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. Matteo Bobbi
Matteo Bobbi (born 2 July 1978 in Milan) is an Italian racing driver with experience in several motor sport categories, including three years as a Minardi test driver in Formula One. During a brief time with Formula One's Minardi as their test driver, he also began racing in sports cars, winning the 2003 FIA GT Championship with Thomas Biagi in a BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari, and finishing as runner-up in 2004. In 2006, he won the GT2 class with Jaime Melo. Bobbi began racing karts in 1995 and progressed to Formula Renault in 1998, where he finished on the podium several times.
