2006 Florida State Seminoles Football Team
The 2006 Florida State Seminoles football team represented Florida State University during the 2006 NCAA Division I-A football season. The team was coached by Bobby Bowden and played their home games at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida. They were members of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the Atlantic Division. The Seminoles finished with an overall record of 7–6, which was head coach Bobby Bowden's worst record since going 5–6 in 1976, his first year as Florida State's head coach. This record was later reduced to 2–6 after 5 wins from the season were vacated as punishment for violations of NCAA rules. Pre-season The Seminoles were picked by the ACC media as the preseason favorite to win the ACC's Atlantic Division. Bobby Bowden
Robert Cleckler Bowden (; November 8, 1929 – August 8, 2021) was an American college football coach. Bowden coached the Florida State Seminoles of Florida State University (FSU) from 1976 to 2009 and is considered one of the greatest college football coaches of all time for his accomplishments with the Seminoles. During his time at Florida State, Bowden led FSU to an Associated Press and Coaches Poll National Title in 1993 and a BCS National Championship in 1999, as well as twelve Atlantic Coast Conference championships once FSU joined the conference in 1991. Bowden's Seminoles finished as an AP top-5 team for 14 consecutive seasons, setting a record which doubled the closest program. However, the program weakened during the mid-2000s, and after a difficult 2009 season Bowden was fired by President T.K. Wetherell, just weeks after his 80th birthday. All-America
The All-America designation is an annual honor bestowed upon an amateur sports person from the United States who is considered to be one of the best amateurs in their sport. Individuals receiving this distinction are typically added to an All-America team for their sport. Some sports will have multiple All-America teams and will list the honorees as members of a first team, second team, or third team. As such, All-America teams are composed of outstanding US amateur players. Individuals falling short of qualifying for the honor may receive All-America honorable mention. The designation is typically used at the collegiate level although, beginning in 1957, high school- athletes in football began being honored with All-America status, which then carried-over to other sports like basketball and cross-country running. Andre Fluellen
Andre Fluellen (born March 7, 1985) is an American football former defensive tackle. He played college football at Florida State and was drafted in the third round of the 2008 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions. High school career A native of Cartersville, Georgia, Fluellen attended Cartersville High School, where he played on both the offensive and defensive lines. As a junior, he had 88 tackles, 10 sacks, six forced fumbles and scored two touchdowns. In his senior year, he added 93 tackles and 11 sacks. Greg Carr (American Football)
Greg Carr (born October 8, 1985) is a professional arena football wide receiver who is currently a free agent. After playing college football at Florida State, Carr was signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2009. Carr has also been a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Edmonton Eskimos, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Calgary Stampeders, Orlando Predators and Washington Valor. Dekoda Watson (born March 3, 1988) is a former American football linebacker. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played college football at Florida State. Early years Watson attended South Aiken High School in Aiken, South Carolina, where he was a letterman in football and track. Everette D. Brown (born August 7, 1987) is an American football coach and former linebacker who is currently the assistant linebackers coach for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Florida State and was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in second round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
