Krynica-Zdrój
Krynica-Zdrój (until 31 December 2001 Krynica, Rusyn language, Rusyn: Криниця ) is a town in Nowy Sącz County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, southern Poland. It is inhabited by over eleven thousand people. It is the biggest spa town in Poland often called the ''Pearl of Polish Spas''; and a popular tourist and ski resort, winter sports destination situated in the heart of the Beskids mountain range. History and economy Krynica was first recorded in official documents in 1547 and was granted town rights in 1889. In the 17th century, mineral waters were discovered in the area. In 1856, the town began rapidly developing into a health resort largely thanks to the activities of Józef Dietl, a Jagiellonian University professor considered the "father of Polish balneology". By the end of the 19th century, the town had acquired a considerable reputation for its picturesque location and its health resort facilities. It was frequented by Polish elites and intellectuals. Sebastian Praus
Sebastian Praus (born 31 August 1980 in Dresden) is a German short-track speed-skater. Praus competed at the 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics for Germany. In 2006, he finished third in the opening heat of the 1000 metres, but was advanced to the quarterfinals, where he finished third again, failing to advance. In the 1500 metres, he finished fourth in his opening race, not advancing. He also competed in the 5000 metre relay, finishing third in the semifinal and second in the B Final to end up 7th overall. In 2010, he finished third in the opening round o fht e1500 metres, then third in the semifinal, advancing to the B Final. He finished 5th in that race to end up 11th overall. He again raced with the German 5000 metre relay team, which had an identical result, ending up 7th. His best overall finish was in the 2006 1000 metres, when he placed 10th overall. Tatiana Aleksandrovna Borodulina (; born 22 December 1984 in Omsk, Russia) is a Russian short-track speed skater, who formerly represented Australia. Career Borodulina competed for Russia at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. She was a finalist in the 1500m, but was disqualified. Move to Australia Borodulina moved to Australia in 2006, having received a ban from Russian short track for being absent for a doping test. She resided in Sunnybank Hills, Brisbane. She won two gold medals and a bronze medal in the 2009 Short Track Speed Skating World Cup season. Legislation had to be passed to amend the Australian Citizenship Act so that Borodulina would receive citizenship in time to compete at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada after missing the cut-off mark by 18 days. Arianna Fontana
Arianna Fontana OMRI (born 14 April 1990) is an Italian short track speed skater, who has won eleven Olympic medals among these two gold medals in the 500m short track, one at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and the second one at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Her medal haul following the 2022 Games made her the short track skater with the most Olympic medals. It also made her the Italian sportswoman with the highest number of Winter Olympic medals, one more than Stefania Belmondo. She specializes in the 500 m event. Evgenia Radanova (; born 4 November 1977) is a Bulgarian female short track speed skater and racing cyclist who has participated in both the Summer and Winter Olympics. She was the world record holder in the 500 m short track distance with 43.671s, which she set in Calgary, Canada on 19 October 2001. In the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympic games she won a silver medal at the same distance and a bronze at 1500m. In Athens 2004 Summer games she took part in cycling, but did not get a medal.
