The 2006 Auckland Open (also named ASB Classic for sponsorship reasons) was a 2006 WTA Tour women's tennis tournament, played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 21st edition of the WTA Auckland Open. It took place at the ASB Tennis Centre in Auckland, New Zealand, from 2 January until 7 January 2006. Sixth-seeded Marion Bartoli won the singles title. WTA Tier IV Tournaments
The WTA Tier IV tournaments were Women's Tennis Association fourth-level tournaments held from 1990 until the end of the 2008 season. The line-up of events varied over the years, with tournaments being promoted, demoted or cancelled. Jelena Dokic ( sr, Јелена Докић, Jelena Dokić; ; born 12 April 1983) is an Australian tennis coach, commentator, writer, and former professional tennis player. Her highest ranking as a tennis player was world No. 4, in August 2002. She won WTA Tour events on all surfaces during her career. The 2006 Heineken Open was a ATP men's tennis tournament held at the ASB Tennis Centre in Auckland, New Zealand.
