List Of British Champions In 5000 Metres
The British 5,000 metres athletics champions covers four competitions; the current British Athletics Championships which was founded in 2007, the preceding AAA Championships (1880-2006), the Amateur Athletic Club Championships (1866-1879) and finally the UK Athletics Championships which existed from 1977 until 1997 and ran concurrently with the AAA Championships. The distance was originally 4 miles but in 1932 switched to 3 miles. Where an international athlete won the AAA Championships the highest ranking UK athlete is considered the National Champion in this list. Andrew Baddeley
Andrew James Baddeley (born 20 June 1982) is an English middle-distance runner. Career He finished sixth in the 1500 metres final at the 2006 European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg. He also competed at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, and has a silver medal from the 2005 Summer Universiade. He finished second in the 1500 metres final at the European Cup in Athletics 2007 in Munich, with a time of 3:48.08 minutes. At the Bislett Games on 15 June 2007, Baddeley ran 3:51.95 for the mile which took almost 5 seconds off his personal best and moved him to 12th spot on the UK all time ranking list. He won the Dream Mile at the 2008 Bislett Games in a world leading time of 3:49.38, taking another 2 seconds off his lifetime best. Baddeley is a member of Harrow Athletics Club and competes in the British Athletics League matches when available for domestic duty. Sam Ellis (runner)
Sam Ellis (born 23 June 1982) is a British 800 metres runner from Barnsley. He won a bronze medal in the 800 m at the 2006 European Athletics Championships. He is coached by Alan Hastey and is on the World Class Podium funding programme. Ellis attended Penistone Grammar School and is a graduate from Sheffield Hallam University in Architecture. National and international career Ellis was a member of Barnsley Athletics Club before joining City of Sheffield Athletic Club in 2007 and was formerly a 400m international, achieving a bronze medal at this distance in the 2000 Commonwealth Youth Games held in Edinburgh. In 2004 he was a surprise winner of the 800m at the AAA National Championships, claiming his first senior AAA gold. Michael Rimmer
Michael Alan Rimmer (born 3 February 1986, in Southport) is an English middle-distance runner. He was born in Southport. Originally a member of Southport Waterloo AC, he changed clubs to rivals Liverpool Pembroke Sefton, who he still now races with. He attended Christ The King catholic high school and broke numerous records in school mile races held at Victoria park, Southport. Michael was also a former sports scholar at Liverpool John Moores University. Running career He finished 8th in the 800m final at the 2006 European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg. Robert "Rob" John Tobin (born 20 December 1983 in Lincoln, England) is an English sprinter. He currently has a PB in the 400 m of 45.01 seconds. Personal life Tobin was born Robert John Tobin the youngest of two children born to Jacqueline (née Chidlow) and John Tobin.
