2005–06 UCI Europe Tour
The 2005–06 UCI Europe Tour was the second season of the UCI Europe Tour. The season began on 16 October 2005 with the Chrono des Nations and ended on 12 October 2006 with the Giro del Piemonte. The points leader, based on the cumulative results of previous races, wears the UCI Europe Tour cycling jersey. Murilo Fischer of Brazil was the defending champion of the 2005 UCI Europe Tour. Gran Premio Della Costa Etruschi
The Gran Premio della Costa Etruschi is a one-day professional cycling race between the towns of San Vincenzo and Donoratico on the Tuscany coast in Italy. The 193 kilometre long race takes place at the beginning of February and has now taken over from the Trofeo Laigueglia as the opening event of the Italian professional cycling season. It is ranked 1.1 on the UCI Europe Tour. Alessandro Ballan (born 6 November 1979 in Castelfranco Veneto, Veneto) is an Italian former professional road bicycle racer who most recently rode for UCI World Tour team . He is best known for winning the World Road Race Championships, in 2008. Although he possessed a frame that was usually more associated with climbing, Ballan established himself as a leading spring classics contender. David Kopp (born 5 January 1979, in Bonn) is a former German road racing cyclist, who competed as a professional between 2001 and 2011. Kopp's speciality was sprinting and the cobbled classics of Belgium. Kopp started his pro career with in 2001 before moving to smaller German teams for 2004 and 2005. In 2006, he returned to top level cycling with for two years before moving to Pro Continental team Cycle Collstrop in 2008. Robbie McEwen (born 24 June 1972) is an Australian former professional road cyclist. McEwen is a three-time winner of the Tour de France points classification and, at the peak of his career, was considered the world's fastest sprinter. He last rode for on the UCI World Tour. Cyril Dessel (born 29 November 1974 in Rive-de-Gier, Loire) is a French former professional road racing cyclist, who competed as a professional from 2000 to 2011. In 2006, he won the Tour Méditerranéen on the UCI Europe Tour. Then in the 2006 Tour de France, he finished second in the tenth stage, taking the leader's yellow jersey for a day and the lead in the King of the Mountains competition; he eventually finished sixth. In 2008, he won the 16th stage of the Tour after being in a chase group most of the day, beating David Arroyo, Yaroslav Popovych and Sandy Casar.
