2005–06 Toronto Raptors Season
The 2005-2006 NBA season was the Raptors' eleventh season in the National Basketball Association. In the 2005 offseason, the Raptors selected Charlie Villanueva and Joey Graham with the seventh and sixteenth pick, respectively, in the first found of the 2005 NBA draft. After the draft, the Raptors signed an undrafted José Calderón as a free agent. The Raptors started the regular season 1–15, and the team struggled the remainder of the season, playing sub .500 basketball the remainder of the season. On January 26, 2006, the Raptors fired general manager Rob Babcock. Wayne Embry was named interim general manager, until the February 28, 2006 hiring of Phoenix Suns president and general manager Bryan Colangelo as the Raptors' new general manager. Sam Mitchell (basketball)
Samuel E. Mitchell Jr. (born September 2, 1963) is an American former professional basketball player and coach. Playing at small forward, Mitchell's 18-year professional basketball career spanned three decades, and was most notable for his ten seasons with the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves, whom he also coached as an interim for the 2015–16 season. Mitchell coached for the Toronto Raptors from 2004 to 2008 as well, winning Coach of the Year Award in 2007. Mitchell has since worked as an analyst for TSN, NBA TV, and works as a talk show co-host/analyst on SiriusXM NBA Radio. Early years Mitchell graduated from Columbus High School in 1981. Wayne Embry
Wayne Richard Embry (born March 26, 1937) is an American former professional basketball player and basketball executive. Embry's 11-year playing career as a center spanned from 1958 to 1969 playing for the Cincinnati Royals, Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks, all of the National Basketball Association (NBA). After his playing career, Embry transitioned to a career as a professional basketball executive, becoming the first African-American general manager and team president in NBA history. Since 2004, Embry has served as a senior basketball advisor for the Toronto Raptors. Uroš Slokar
Uroš Slokar (; born May 14, 1983) is a Slovenian former professional basketball player who last played for Pallacanestro Cantù of the Lega Basket Serie A. Professional career After playing two seasons in the Slovenian basketball league, Slokar moved to Italy's Serie A in 2003, where he represented Benetton Treviso and Pallalcesto Amatori Udine. The Favbet Premijer liga (, ), also known as simply Premijer liga, is the first tier level men's professional basketball league in Croatia. It began in 1991, following the breakup of SFR Yugoslavia and therefore the Yugoslav League, and is organized by the Croatian Basketball Federation. Roko Leni Ukić (born December 5, 1984) is a Croatian former professional basketball player. Standing at , he mainly played at the point guard position, but could also play at the shooting guard position. Professional career Ukić was born and raised in Split, where he began playing basketball for the youth clubs of KK Split in 1992. He competed on cadet and junior teams for the club, winning the national youth championship twice with the cadet team, and earning the MVP award of the Croatian cadet championship in 2000.
