2005–06 Omani League
The 2005–06 Omani League was the 30th edition of the top football league in Oman. It began on 9 November 2005 and finished on 19 May 2006. Dhofar S.C.S.C. were the defending champions, having won the 2004–05 Omani League season. Muscat Club won 4-3 at home in their final league match against Dhofar S.C.S.C. and emerged as the champions of the 2005–06 Omani League with a total of 45 points. Teams This season the league had decreased from 13 to 12 teams. Al-Ahli Club, Al-Ittihad Club and Al-Khaboura SC were relegated to the Second Division League after finishing in the relegation zone in the 2004–05 season. The three relegated teams were replaced by Second Division League teams Al-Suwaiq Club and Mjees SC. Omani League
The Oman Professional League (; known as the ''Omantel Professional League'' for sponsorship reasons), previously known as the Omantel Elite League, is the top division of the Oman Football Association, and was officially created in 1976. Currently, the most successful team in the league is Dhofar S.C.S.C., Dhofar with 12 titles to their name. Evolution to a professional league In 2010, during the annual draw for the Sultan Qaboos Cup, Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Sultan of Oman, granted the Oman Football Association, OFA an annual 2.6 million Omani Rial, rial (approximately 6.7 million US Dollars, dollars) till the year 2015 to further boost the development of the league. The move was made to nurture Oman's football youth, and create higher hopes of Oman qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Al-Ittihad Club (Salalah)
Al-Ittihad Club () is an Omani sports club based in Salalah, in southern Oman. The club currently plays in Oman First Division League, first division of Oman Football Association. Their home ground is Al-Saada Stadium. They also recognize the older Salalah Sports Complex as their home ground. Both stadiums are government owned, but Al-Ittihad also own their personal stadium, sports equipment and training facilities. Bahla
Bahla () is a town, located 40 km away from Nizwa, and about 200 km from Oman's capital Muscat which lies in the Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate of Oman. It is notable as the home of one of the oldest fortresses in the country, the 13th-century Bahla Fort, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Suwayq
Al Suwaiq () is a coastal wilayah (Provinces of Oman, province) in Al Batinah North Governorate, in northeastern Oman. Al-Seeb, As Seeb, As Sib, or Seeb () is a coastal fishing Provinces of Oman, province, located several kilometres northwest of Muscat, in northeastern Oman. Sur () is the capital city of Ash Sharqiyah South Governorate, and the former capital of Ash Sharqiyah Region in northeastern Oman, on the coast of the Gulf of Oman. Al-Sa'ada Stadium (), which is part of Al-Sa'ada Sports Complex (), is a government-owned multi-use stadium in the Al-Sa'ada district of Salalah, in southern Oman. The stadium is used only for football matches and is the home stadium of Salalah-based clubs Dhofar, and Al-Nasr. The stadium originally had an estimated capacity of 12,000 people, but with the 2010 renovation making the stadium an all-seater, the maximum capacity decreased to an estimated 8 to 9 thousand spectators.
