The 2005 Skate Israel was the 8th edition of a senior-level international figure skating competition held in Metulla, Israel. It was held between September 23 and 25 at the Canada Centre. Alexei Bychenko
Alexei Bychenko ( he, אלכסיי ביצ'נקו; uk, Олексій Юрійович Биченко; born 5 February 1988) is a retired Ukrainian-born Israeli figure skater. He represented Ukraine through 2009 and Israel after that. He is the 2016 European Figure Skating Championships silver medalist and 2016 Rostelecom Cup bronze medalist. He is the first Israeli skater to medal at the European Championships. He placed fourth at 2018 Worlds. Bychenko competed for Israel at the 2014, 2018, and 2022 Winter Olympics. Early and personal life Bychenko was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, and is Jewish. Vazgen Azrojan
Vazgen Azrojan (born 22 January 1977) is a retired Armenian ice dancer. He is best known for his partnership with Anastasia Grebenkina with whom he represented Armenia at the 2006 Winter Olympics and won the bronze medal at the 2005 NHK Trophy. Personal life He was born on 22 January 1977 in Odessa, Ukrainian SSR. He is the father of Armenian ice dancer Viktoriia Azroian (born 15 July 2003 in Moscow). Career Azrojan placed ninth with Ekaterina Davydova at the 1994 World Junior Championships, representing Russia. Anastasia Yuryevna Grebenkina (russian: Анастасия Юрьевна Гребёнкина, born 18 January 1979) is a former competitive ice dancer. She is best known for her partnership with Vazgen Azrojan with whom she represented Armenia at the 2006 Winter Olympics and won the bronze medal at the 2005 NHK Trophy. Career Grebenkina teamed up with Vazgen Azrojan in 1996 and skated with him until 1998, representing Russia. After their partnership ended, she skated with Vitali Novikov, also representing Russia. Maxim Andreyevich Shabalin (russian: Максим Андреевич Шабалин; born 25 January 1982) is a Russian former competitive ice dancer. He and partner Oksana Domnina are the 2010 Olympic bronze medalists, the 2009 World Champions, the 2008 & 2010 European Champions, the 2007 Grand Prix Final champions, and three-time (2005, 2007, 2010) Russian national champions. Free Dance (figure Skating)
The free dance (FD) is a segment of an ice dance competition, the second contested. It follows the rhythm dance (RD). Skaters perform "a creative dance program blending dance steps and movements expressing the character/rhythm(s) of the dance music chosen by the couple".S&P/ID 2022, p. 143 Its duration is four minutes for senior ice dancers, and 3.5 minutes for juniors. Original Dance
The original dance (OD) was one of the programs performed by figure skaters in ice dance competitions, in which the ice dancers skated "a dance of their own creation to dance music they have selected for the designated rhythm(s)".Rulebook, p. 90 It was normally the second of three programs in the competition, sandwiched between the compulsory dance (CD) and the free dance (FD). The rhythm(s) and type of music required for the OD changed every season, and were selected by the International Skating Union (ISU) before the start of the season. The ice dancers were free to choose their own music and choreography (within the specified constraints) and to create their own routines. The compulsory dance (CD), now called the pattern dance, is a part of the figure skating segment of ice dance competitions in which all the competing couples perform the same standardized steps and holds to the music of a specified tempo and genre. One or more compulsory dances were usually skated as the first phase of ice dancing competitions. The 2009–10 season was the final season in which the segment was included in International Skating Union (ISU) junior and senior level competition. In June 2010, the ISU replaced the name "compulsory dance" with "pattern dance" for ice dance, and merged it into the short dance (SD) beginning in the 2010–11 figure skating season. Personal life Tamar Katz was born September 26, 1989 in Dallas, Texas. The daughter of Leora and Yirmi Katz, she was raised with two brothers, Eyal and Ronen. Due to her father's work as a diplomat at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C., she resided in Maryland from the age of seven, before settling in Metula, Israel when she was 13. Sara Falotico
Sara Falotico (born 28 June 1984) is an Italian-Belgian figure skater. Competing for Belgium until 2006, she became a three-time Belgian national champion (2002, 2004, and 2005) and reached the free skate at six ISU Championships. In 2014, she began competing for Italy. Career Falotico represented Belgium at the World Championships three times, achieving her highest placement (25th) in 2003; four times at the European Championships, with a highest placement of 21st in 2004; and four times at the World Junior Championships, with a highest placement of 21st in 2002 and 2003.
