2005 SCSA Season
The 2005 SCSA Season was the fifth season of United Kingdom-based NASCAR style stock car racing, originally known as ASCAR. From this season, 'Stock Car Speed Association' was adopted as the new brand of the series. Teams and drivers Race calendar All races were held at the Rockingham Motor Speedway in Corby, Northamptonshire. The season consisted of six meetings of two races taking place on the first Sunday of each month from May to October. The grid for the opening race of each meeting was set by a qualifying session with the second race grid being set by the finishing order of the first. A meeting at the EuroSpeedway in Germany was scheduled for late August but was cancelled due to concerns with travel costs. Final points standings The 2005 season saw a change in the points system. Chevrolet ( ), colloquially referred to as Chevy and formally the Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors Company, is an Automotive industry in the United States, American automobile division of the American manufacturer General Motors (GM). Gavin Seager (born 18 December 1978) is a racing driver; he has raced the #54 pickup since 1998 in the UK Pickup Truck Racing series. He has won the Pickup Truck Racing championship three times; first in 2002 and then in 2004,and again in 2008, and has also taken the runner up position twice in 2001 and 2003. Team West-Tec F3 is a motor racing team owned by Gavin Wills and John Miller based in Corby in the United Kingdom, the most successful team in the history of the European F3 Open Championship, it also won two drivers championships in the ASCAR Racing Series. Pontiac or formally the Pontiac Motor Division of General Motors, was an American automobile brand owned, manufactured, and commercialized by General Motors. Introduced as a companion make for GM's more expensive line of Oakland automobiles, Pontiac overtook Oakland in popularity and supplanted its parent brand entirely by 1933. Mark Proctor (racing Driver)
Mark Proctor (born 9 December 1968 in Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire) is a British former racing driver who competed in a wide range of championships. In the mid-1990s he raced rallycross, twice coming 2nd in his class in the British Rallycross Championship. In 1996 he switched to Eurocar BV8 series, coming 2nd in 1998 and 5th in the following 2 seasons. In 2001 the ASCAR series brought US-style stock car racing to a wider UK audience, and Mark was a stalwart driver for several seasons, finishing in the series top 10 three times. However, for 2005 he entered the British Touring Car Championship for the first time, for the small Fast-Tec team in an ex-Rob Collard Vauxhall Astra, finishing 15th overall. Hunter Abbott is a British racing driver and business man (born in Windsor, 4 December 1980). He has raced sportscars, GT cars and Touring Cars. He was 2017 Blancpain GT Series Asia Champion and won the RAC Trophy after victory in the 2021 Silverstone 500 race. He is founder, owner and Managing Director of AlcoSense Laboratories, which designs, develops and manufactures alcohol breathalysers under the AlcoSense brand name. John Mickel (racing Driver)
John Mickel (born 28 January 1971) is a British professional stock car racing driver and commentator. He has raced in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in the United States and the Pickup Truck Racing Series in the United Kingdom. He was also a commentator for Sky Sports' coverage of NASCAR racing in 2008 and 2009. Racing career Mickel, a second-generation driver, began racing at the age of ten in Ministox and won his first championship two years later. Rockingham Motor Speedway
Rockingham Motor Speedway is a former racing motorsport venue in Rockingham, Northamptonshire, England, United Kingdom, near the town of Corby. It hosted professional and club races, as well as testing, track days, driver training, exhibitions and conferences. It claimed to be Europe's fastest racing circuit, and was the first banked oval constructed in Britain since the closure of Brooklands in 1939. The venue entered administration in 2017 and hosted its final motor race in November 2018. In 2021, the facility was purchased by Constellation Automotive for £80million. Corby
Corby is a town in North Northamptonshire, England, located north-east of Northampton. From 1974 to 2021, the town served as the administrative headquarters of the Borough of Corby. At the 2011 Census, the built-up area had a population of 56,810, while the borough, which was abolished in 2021, had a population of 75,571 in 2021.
