2005 NHK Trophy
The 2005 NHK Trophy was the final event of six in the 2005–06 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held at the Kadoma Sports Center in Osaka on December 1–4. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. ISU Grand Prix Of Figure Skating
The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The invitational series was inaugurated in 1995, incorporating several previously existing events. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The junior-level equivalent is the ISU Junior Grand Prix. Short Program (figure Skating)
The short program of figure skating is the first of two segments of competitions, skated before the free skating program. It lasts, for both senior and junior singles and pair skaters, 2 minutes and 40 seconds. In synchronized skating, for both juniors and seniors, the short program lasts 2 minutes and 50 seconds. Vocal music with lyrics is allowed for all disciplines since the 2014-2015 season. The short program for single skaters and for pair skaters consists of seven required elements, and there are six required elements for synchronized skaters. Elena Liashenko
Elena Liashenko ( uk, Олена Анатоліївна Ляшенко ''Olena Anatoliyivna Liashenko''; russian: Елена Анатольевна Ляшенко; born 9 August 1976) is a Ukrainian former competitive figure skater. Fumie Suguri
is a Japanese former competitive figure skater. She is a three-time World medalist, a three-time Four Continents champion, the 2003 Grand Prix Final champion, and a five-time Japanese national champion. Personal life Suguri was born in Chiba, Chiba, Japan. Her younger sister, Chika, is also a figure skater. Stefan Lindemann
Stefan Lindemann (born 30 September 1980) is a German retired figure skater. He is the 2004 World bronze medalist, 2005 European bronze medalist, 2000 World Junior champion, and a seven-time (2000, 2002, 2004–2007, 2010) German national champion. Career Stefan Lindeman started skating at age 4 in Erfurt at the local skating club. At age 12 he wanted to play ice hockey, but his mother kept him in figure skating. His coach was Ilona Schindler. After finishing his school he was sponsored by the Bundeswehr (German Army). In 1995, at age 14, Lindemann made his first successful appearance in the international figure skating scene by placing fourth at the junior world championships. Roman Serov
Roman Serov (born 16 December 1976 in Moscow) is a Russian-born figure skater and skating coach who has also competed for Israel. He won two medals on the Grand Prix series and is a two-time Israeli national champion. Career Serov represented Russia until 2001–2002, twice placing 4th at the Russian Championships and winning medals at Cup of Russia and Finlandia Trophy. After his marriage to an Israeli, he decided to represent Israel and sat out the mandatory wait period, returning to international competition in 2003. Serov represented Israel at the 2005 & 2006 European and World Figure Skating Championships. He was removed from Israel's list of candidates for the 2006 Olympics because he did not hold Israeli citizenship, nor meet residency requirements. Takeshi Honda
is a former Japanese competitive figure skater. He is a two-time World bronze medalist (2002, 2003), two-time Four Continents champion (1999, 2003), and six-time Japanese national champion. Personal life Takeshi Honda was born on 23 March 1981 in Kōriyama, Fukushima, Japan. He plays the piano. Career Honda began short track speed skating at the age of six with his brother and switched to figure skating at nine. Ivan Dinev
Ivan Dinev ( bg, Иван Динев; born November 8, 1978) is a Bulgarian former competitive figure skater. He is a three-time Grand Prix medalist, an 11-time Bulgarian national champion, and competed at three Olympics. Career In the 1997–98 season, Dinev won two gold medals on the ISU Junior Series and qualified for the Final where he took the silver medal. He competed at his first Olympics in 1998, finishing 11th. At the 1999 World Championships, Dinev became the first Bulgarian skater to land a quadruple toe loop in competition. He won bronze at the 1999 Trophée Lalique, becoming the first skater from his country to medal at a Grand Prix event. Yannick Ponsero
Yannick Ponsero (born 17 October 1986) is a French former competitive figure skater. He won two medals at the World Junior Championships (silver in 2005, bronze in 2006) and two medals on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series, including gold in France. Ben Ferreira (born April 5, 1979) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. He is the 2004 Skate Canada International silver medallist, the 2004 Bofrost Cup on Ice silver medallist, and a three-time Canadian national medallist. Career Ferreira placed 12th at the 1998 World Junior Championships. In the 1999–2000 season, he won the bronze medal at the Canadian Championships. Kevin van der Perren (born 6 August 1982) is a Belgian former competitive figure skater. He is the 2007 & 2009 European bronze medalist, a three-time Grand Prix medalist, and an eight-time (2000–2004, 2007, 2011, 2012) Belgian national champion. Christopher Mabee
Christopher Mabee (born August 26, 1985) is a Canadian retired competitive figure skater. He is the 2007 Canadian national silver medalist. He announced his retirement from competitive skating in December, 2008. Early career Christopher Mabee was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario. He began skating at age seven. Mabee was coached by Paul Wirtz for a year in Montreal but, after being injured in 1998, he moved back home to be closer to his family. Mabee then trained at the Mariposa School of Skating in Barrie, Ontario, under Lee Barkell and Doug Leigh. Mabee won the silver medal on the novice level at nationals in 1998.
