The Last Furlong (RTE Programe)
The Last Furlong is a short-lived Irish comedy-drama television series which was aired on RTÉ from 14 November to 19 December 2005. Originally created by Simon Delaney and co-written with director Kieran Carney, the series dealt with Diogo Bernardo Furlong (Simon Delaney), a Portuguese cabaret singer and songwriter, who travels to Ireland to scatter his mother's ashes over the grave of his Irish father. Plot The show centered on a Portuguese man seeking clues regarding his parent. After the death of his mother, Diogo Bernardo Furlong visits Ireland to scatter his mother's ashes on the grave of his father. His father had died some years before in a boating accident on Lough Allen, and he was raised by his mother in Alentejo, Portugal. His only clue to his father's grave is a postcard that his mother gave to him with a picture of a church. ''Naked Camera'' is a hidden camera comedy television show which began airing on RTÉ Two in 2005. Set and filmed in the Republic of Ireland (mostly in Dublin), its concept is similar to that of the UK show ''Trigger Happy TV'' or the ascendant candid camera elements of '' The Live Mike''. Comedians PJ Gallagher, Patrick McDonnell, and Maeve Higgins wrote the scripts and portrayed the sketch characters. ''Dustin's Daily News'' (DDN) is a television Talk show, chat/comedy show, broadcast on RTÉ Two. A predecessor of ''The Once a Week Show'', it served as a new home for Dustin the Turkey, who had until then been part of ''The Den (Ireland), The Den''. Dustin co-presented with an assistant, Sinéad Ni Churnain. Two series were produced. The first series aired between 19 September 2005 and 29 April 2006, while the second series aired between September 2006 and April 2007. ''Dustin's Daily News'' took place in the Wicklow Mountains, Dublin Mountains, where Dustin established his own network news channel. While Dustin would always be able to avoid being captured by a butcher in the opening sequence, he had another villain to contend with during the run of the show. ''Peppa Pig'' is a British preschool animated television series created by Neville Astley and Mark Baker.
