2005 Armenian First League
The 2005 Armenian First League season started on 19 April 2005. The last matches were played on 8 October 2005. Pyunik-2 became the league champions, but because they are a reserve team they were unable to promote to the Armenian Premier League. As a result, the second placed team Ararat Yerevan was given promotion. The third placed team Gandzasar played in the promotion/relegation play-off, which they lost. Armenian First League
The Armenian First League () is currently the second level association football, football competition in Armenia after the Armenian Premier League. The competition exists mostly out of reserve teams of several Premier League clubs; however, other teams also participate. FC Dinamo Yerevan
FC Dinamo Yerevan (), was an Armenian football club from the capital Yerevan. History The club was founded in 1936 during the Soviet period, winning many titles of the Armenian SSR championship. After a long retirement from professional football, Dinamo Yerevan was revived in 1992 to participate in the domestic competitions. However, the club was dissolved in early 2008 and is currently inactive from professional football. The 2005 Armenian Cup was the 14th edition of the Armenian Cup, a football competition. In 2005, the tournament had 17 participants, out of which 4 were reserve teams. The 2005 Armenian Premier League season was the fourteenth since its establishment, and started on 12 April 2005. The last matches were played on 6 November 2005. FC Pyunik were the defending champions. Participating teams *Lernayin Artsakh FC from Yerevan are promoted. *FC Kotayk from Abovyan changed their name to Esteghlal-Kotayk. The 2006 Armenian Premier League season was the fifteenth since its establishment, and started on 14 April 2006. The last matches were played on 9 November 2006. FC Pyunik were the defending champions. FC Lokomotiv Yerevan
FC Lokomotiv Yerevan (), is a defunct Armenian football club from the capital Yerevan. History During the Soviet rule, Lokomotiv Yerevan football team was formed in 1945 after World War II, representing the state railway department of the city of Yerevan. They won the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic championship in 1963. The current FC Lokomotiv Yerevan was founded in 2002 and participated in the Armenian First League during the same year. However, the club was dissolved in 2005 prior to the kick-off of the First League season, due to financial difficulties. In April 2018, it was announced that Lokomotiv Yerevan has returned to professional football, planning to take part in the 2018–19 Armenian First League championship; the 2nd tier of the Armenian football league system. FC Araks
Araks Ararat FC (), is Armenian football club from the town of Ararat, Ararat Province. Club history The club was founded in 1960 as FC Ararat to represent the town of Ararat. With the independence of Armenia, the Ararat Cement Factory took over FC Ararat in 1993 and the club was renamed FC Tsement Ararat. They played in the Armenian Premier League and won two titles, the first in 1998 as Tsement and the 2nd in 2000 as Araks Ararat. The following year, Tsement yielded the championship to FC Shirak by two points and ended up on the third spot behind Ararat Yerevan. However, after many successful years, the club president ''Abraham Babayan'' was unable to finance the club. Lori Vanadzor
Lori FC () was an Armenian football club based in Vanadzor, Lori Province. Originally founded in 1936, Lori has participated in the domestic football competition of Soviet Armenia. After retiring from professional football in 2002, the club was revived in 2017 winning the 2017–18 Armenian First League competition. History The club participated in the first ever Armenian football competition after the split-up from the Soviet Union. After the regular competition, they did not qualify for the championship stage, but were forced to play in the relegation stage.
