Central Coast Mariners FC
Central Coast Mariners Football Club is an Australian professional soccer club based in Gosford, on the Central Coast of New South Wales. It competes in the A-League Men, under licence from the Australian Professional Leagues (APL). The Mariners were founded in 2004 and are one of the eight original A-League teams. It is the first professional sports club from the Gosford region to compete in a national competition. Despite being considered one of the smallest-market clubs in the league, the Central Coast Mariners have claimed one A-League Championship from four Grand Final appearances and topped the table to win the A-League Premiership twice. Michael Valkanis
Mihalis "Michael" Valkanis (Greek: Μιχάλης "Μάικελ" Βαλκάνης; born 23 August 1974) is a Greek Australian former football (soccer) player and was previously a manager of Melbourne City FC. Club career Valkanis rose through the ranks as a talented junior at South Melbourne to the senior team. At South Melbourne, Valkanis made 50 appearances for his boyhood club attracting the attention of overseas clubs. Valkanis would state that pulling on the South Melbourne kit for his debut was the proudest moment of his footballing career. Valkanis then played in the Greek League with Iraklis and most notably with Larissa where he played for five seasons and won 102 caps, and Agios Nikolaos. New Zealand Knights Football Club (formed from the Football Kingz Football Club in 2004) were the only professional association football club in New Zealand before they became defunct. Peter Daniel Green (born 29 May 1978) is a retired Australian soccer referee in the Australian A-League. Green has been FIFA listed since 2006 and a member of the AFC Elite Referees Panel since 2008. He has refereed in three A-League Grand Final matches. He was the A-League referee of the year in 2013 and 2014. Career Green took up refereeing as a teenager, progressing to National Soccer League level in 2000. He has refereeing in the top tier of Australian soccer since 2002. Green was awarded a FIFA badge in 2006 and is eligible to referee international matches. He was also selected on the AFC Elite Referees Panel for the 2008 year and has refereed matches for AFC since. Olympic Park Stadium (Melbourne)
Olympic Park Stadium was a multi-purpose outdoor stadium located on Olympic Boulevard in inner Melbourne. The stadium was built as an athletics training venue for the 1956 Olympics, a short distance from the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground), which served as the Olympic Stadium. Over the years it was the home of rugby league side, Melbourne Storm and the A-League team, Melbourne Victory; throughout its life the stadium played host to athletics.
