2003 WAFL Season
The 2003 WAFL season was the 119th season of the various incarnations of the West Australian Football League. For this season the WAFL reverted briefly to playing its semi-finals as a “double-header”, a policy abandoned for good at the end of the 2005 season, and also reverted to a twenty-game home-and-away season with three byes which has continued to this day. Brad Smith (footballer Born 1979)
Bradley Phillip Smith (born 11 May 1979) is a former Australian rules footballer, who played for in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) from 1998–2009. He was also listed with the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL) from 2005–06, but was not able to play a single game for the club due to two knee reconstructions. Early career Smith is the son of former Geelong and West Perth forward Phil Smith (Australian footballer), Phil Smith. He considered nominating for the 1997 AFL Draft, but other interests put his AFL career on hold. Lathlain Park
Lathlain Park (also known as Mineral Resources Park under ground sponsorship arrangements) is an Australian rules football ground, located in Lathlain, an inner-eastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Since its opening in 1959, it has been the home ground for the Perth Football Club of the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Since 2019 it has been the administrative and training headquarters of professional Australian Football League (AFL) club the West Coast Eagles. Naming rights The venue was known as Lathlain Park until 2003 when the naming rights were sold to Eftel, an internet company, for a period of five years or more. In 2011, Eftel decided not to renew their contract, which gave Western Australian dairy company Brownes the naming rights of Lathlain Park, and so for the next three years its sponsored name was Brownes Stadium. Adam Lange
Adam Lange (born 12 January 1979) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Kangaroos in the Australian Football League (AFL). Lange, who captained his state at Teal Cup level, started his career at Subiaco in 1996 and spent two seasons playing for the WAFL club. He moved to South Australian club Sturt in 1998 and appeared in their grand final loss to Port Adelaide that year. At the end of the season, the Kangaroos picked him up with the 74th selection of the 1998 AFL draft. A versatile player, he was used as both a forward and defender during his time in the AFL. In 2000 he won an AFL Rising Star nomination, missed just two regular season games and appeared in their semi final win, only to miss out on their next final. North Melbourne Football Club
The North Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos or colloquially the Roos, is a professional Australian rules football club. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). Jeremy Humm (born 5 January 1983) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with West Coast and Richmond. A tough half-back who came from the highly productive North Ballarat club, he played four games in his debut season. Guy McKenna
Guy Lindsay McKenna (born 11 May 1969) is a retired Australian rules football player and the former senior coach of the Gold Coast Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). McKenna played 267 games for the West Coast Eagles, including the 1992 and 1994 premiership wins. He captained the club between 1999 and 2000 AFL season. Leederville Oval
Leederville Oval (known as Sullivan Logistics Stadium under a naming rights agreement) is an Australian rules football ground located in Leederville, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. The ground is used as a home ground by two clubs: the East Perth Football Club and the Subiaco Football Club, both competing in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Brad Dodd
Brad Dodd (born 23 March 1977) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League (AFL). Dodd was originally rookie drafted by the Fremantle Football Club in 1997 AFL Draft from East Fremantle in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and was elevated to the senior list in 1998, where he made his debut against Melbourne in round 1 of that season. Dodd played 20 out of a possible 22 games in his debut season, finishing the year with nine goals. In 1999 he played just six games, before playing 20 games again in 2000, kicking 10 goals. Dodd played his last AFL game against Richmond at Subiaco Oval in round 10, 2001, when he suffered an injury to his knee, requiring a reconstruction. Adam Selwood
Adam Murray Selwood (1 May 1984 – 17 May 2025) was an Australian rules footballer who played 11 seasons for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from Bendigo, Victoria, Selwood was recruited by West Coast in the third round of the 2002 National Draft. He made his debut for the club in 2003, and received a nomination for the AFL Rising Star two seasons later, in 2005. Alternating between midfield and defensive roles, Selwood played in West Coast's 2006 premiership win over , and also represented Australia in the 2008 International Rules Series against Ireland. West Coast Eagles
The West Coast Eagles are a professional Australian rules football club based in Perth, Western Australia. The club was founded in 1986 and first competed in 1987 as one of two expansion teams in the Australian Football League (AFL), then known as the Victorian Football League. The club plays its home games at Perth Stadium, Optus Stadium and has its headquarters at Lathlain Park. John Northey
John Neville Northey (born 29 June 1943) is a former Australian rules football player and coach. He played from 1963 to 1970 with the Richmond Football Club. Northey was a dual premiership player with Richmond, winning flags in 1967 and 1969. He is better known, however, as a coach. Playing career Richmond A Derrinallum recruit, the lightly framed Northey was a fleetfooted runner and earned the "swooper" nickname by his ability to get the ball and pass it on to a teammate. He played 118 games and kicked 192 goals for Richmond from 1963 until 1970. He also was a member of Richmond's 1967 and 1969 premiership teams.
