2003 Latin Grammy Awards
The 4th Annual Latin Grammy Awards were held in Miami at the American Airlines Arena on Wednesday, September 3, 2003. It was the first time the telecast was held outside of Los Angeles. Juanes was the night's biggest winner winning a record five awards including Album of the Year. He tied his own record winning five awards again five years later in 2008. Juan Luis Guerra and Calle 13 also tied this record in 2007 and 2009 respectively. Awards Winners are in bold text. American Airlines Arena
Kaseya Center is a multi-purpose arena on Biscayne Bay in Miami, Florida. The arena is home to the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association. The arena was previously named American Airlines Arena from opening in 1999 until 2021, FTX Arena from 2021 until 2023, and Miami-Dade Arena during an interim period in 2023. Since April 2023, the naming rights to the arena are owned by Kaseya under a 17-year, $117.4 million agreement. The official name of the arena's court is the Pat Riley Court at Kaseya Center. Frijolero (song)
"Frijolero" is a song from Molotov's 2003 record '' Dance and Dense Denso''. Its lyrics comprise an exchange where characters trade racially loaded barbs at the Mexico–US border. "Frijolero" is a facetious calque of "beaner", an insulting American English term for a Mexican; the American character is described as "''pinche gringo puñetero''" (roughly, "fucking gringo wanker"). The group won a Latin Grammy for the colorful rotoscoped video in the field of Best Short Form Music Video. Jorge Alberto Villamizar Iregui (born 14 October 1970) is a Colombian musician, singer and composer, leader of the band Bacilos, and one of the most representative Latin American singers. Villamizar came to prominence as the lead member of the band Bacilos. Bacilos released their album ''Madera'' in 1999, and in 2000 they recorded their first album with Warner Music, which was nominated for a Latin Grammy award for Best New Artist. ''Tribalistas'' (, in English "Tribalists") is the debut album by the Brazilian musical Supergroup (music), supergroup of Tribalistas, the same name. It was released on 4 November 2002, on the independent record label Phonomotor, distributed by EMI. From the start of their careers, Brazilian musicians Arnaldo Antunes, Carlinhos Brown and Marisa Monte were present at each other's performances on a regular basis, while also maintaining a personal friendship. In 2001, Monte was invited to contribute vocals to one of the tracks on Antunes' fifth studio album, ''Paradeiro'', which Brown was producing in Salvador, Bahia. Alexandre Pires do Nascimento (born January 8, 1976) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter. Pires was previously the singer of group Só Pra Contrariar which he joined in the late 1980s. Rubén Blades Bellido de Luna (born July 16, 1948), known professionally as Rubén Blades (, but in Panama and within the family), is a Panamanian musician, singer, composer, actor, activist, and politician, performing musically most often in the salsa, and Latin jazz genres. As a songwriter, Blades brought the lyrical sophistication of Central American ''nueva canción'' and Cuban ''nueva trova'' as well as experimental tempos and politically inspired Son Cubano salsa to his music, creating "thinking persons' (salsa) dance music".
