The 2001 Sparkassen Cup on Ice was the third event of six in the 2001–02 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held at the Emscher-Lippe-Halle in Gelsenkirchen on November 9–11. ISU Grand Prix Of Figure Skating
The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The invitational series was inaugurated in 1995, incorporating several previously existing events. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The junior-level equivalent is the ISU Junior Grand Prix. 2001–02 Grand Prix Of Figure Skating Final
The 2001–02 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final was an elite figure skating competition held from December 13 to 16, 2001 at The Aud in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Medals were awarded in men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Unlike most competitions that season, the compulsory dance was not part of the ice dance competition at the Grand Prix Final. The Grand Prix Final was the culminating event of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series, which at the time consisted of Skate America, Skate Canada International, Sparkassen Cup on Ice, Trophée Lalique, Cup of Russia, and NHK Trophy competitions. Angela Nikodinov
Angela Nikodinov ( bg, Анжела Никодинов; born May 9, 1980), is a Bulgarian-American former figure skater. She was the 2000 Four Continents champion and won four medals on the Grand Prix series, including gold at the 2004 Skate America Personal life Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Angela Nikodinov moved with her family to southern California when she was a child. Silvio Smalun
Silvio Smalun (born 2 November 1979 in Erfurt, Thuringia) is a German former competitive figure skater. He is the 2003 Bofrost Cup on Ice bronze medalist, the 2000 Ondrej Nepela Memorial bronze medalist, and a two-time (2001 and 2003) German national champion. He reached the free skate at seven ISU Championships, achieving his best result, 8th, at the 2006 Europeans. Career Silvio Smalun started skating at the age of 5. His first coach was Ilona Schindler. He trained alongside Stefan Lindemann. In 1995, he moved to Oberstdorf where he was coached by Michael Huth. Due to his studies, he trained also in Ulm without his coach. Roman Skorniakov
Roman Skorniakov (russian: Роман Скорняков; born 17 February 1976, in Sverdlovsk) is a Russian-born figure skater who mainly represented Uzbekistan. He represented Russia early in his career before switching to Uzbekistan in 1996. Skorniakov is the 1997–2003 Uzbekistani national champion. He represented Uzbekistan at the 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympics, twice placing 19th. His highest placement at an ISU Championship was 7th at the 2000 and 2002 Four Continents Championships. Frédéric Dambier (born 26 December 1977) is a French figure skater. He is a four-time French national silver medalist and competed at two Olympic Games. He twice placed fourth at the European Figure Skating Championships. He is the first French skater to land a quadruple salchow in competition. Career Dambier started skating when he was about six or seven years old when a neighbor took him to the small ice rink of Joué les Tours. In practice, he landed his first triple jump, the salchow, at 14, and his first quad salchow when he was 19. Vitaliy Danylchenko ( uk, Віталій Данильченко, born 4 December 1978 in Dnipropetrovsk) is a Ukrainian former competitive figure skater. Michael Weiss (born August 2, 1976) is an American former competitive and currently professional figure skater. He is in the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame and is a three-time national champion (1999, 2000, 2003) a two-time World bronze medalist (1999, 2000), and a two-time Olympic team member. Stefan Lindemann (born 30 September 1980) is a German retired figure skater. He is the 2004 World bronze medalist, 2005 European bronze medalist, 2000 World Junior champion, and a seven-time (2000, 2002, 2004–2007, 2010) German national champion. Elvis Stojko, (born March 22, 1972) is a Canadian figure skater. He was a three-time World champion (1994, 1995, 1997), two-time Olympic silver medallist (1994, 1998), and seven-time Canadian champion (1994, 1996–2000, and 2002). Personal life Stojko was born in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada to a Hungarian mother and Slovenian father and was named after Elvis Presley, of whom his parents were fans. Takeshi Honda
is a former Japanese competitive figure skater. He is a two-time World bronze medalist (2002, 2003), two-time Four Continents champion (1999, 2003), and six-time Japanese national champion. Personal life Takeshi Honda was born on 23 March 1981 in Kōriyama, Fukushima, Japan. He plays the piano.
