2001 Miami Dolphins Season
The 2001 Miami Dolphins season was the franchise's 32nd season in the National Football League and the 36th season in the AFC division, and their 2nd under the guidance of head coach Dave Wannstedt. The Miami Dolphins finished the season 2nd in the AFC East with a record of 11–5. Their season ended with a resounding 17-point home loss to the defending Super Bowl champions, the Baltimore Ravens, in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. The Miami Dolphins ranked 8th in points scored and 11th in points allowed. Josh Heupel
Joshua Kenneth Heupel ( ; born March 22, 1978) is an American college football coach and former player who is the head football coach at the University of Tennessee. Previously he was head coach at the University of Central Florida, where he compiled a 28–8 record. Heupel played college football as a quarterback, most notably for the Oklahoma Sooners. During his playing career at Oklahoma, he was recognized as a consensus All-American, won numerous awards, and led Oklahoma to the 2000 BCS National Championship. After two years unsuccessfully trying to make an NFL roster (featuring brief stints with the Miami Dolphins and the Green Bay Packers), Heupel became a coach. Brandon Joseph Winey (born January 27, 1978) is an American former professional American football, football offensive tackle who played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Washington Redskins and New York Giants. He played college football at Louisiana State University and was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the sixth round of the 2001 NFL draft. Winey attended Washington-Marion Magnet High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana. On April 12, 2014, Winey was arrested for the shooting of LSU player Tahj Jones after an argument. Travis Minor (born June 30, 1979) is an American former professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Florida State Seminoles. He was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the third round of the 2001 NFL draft and also played with the St. Louis Rams. 2023 Miami Dolphins Season
The 2023 season was the Miami Dolphins' 54th season in the National Football League (NFL), their 58th overall, their eighth under general manager Chris Grier and their second under head coach Mike McDaniel. The Dolphins improved upon their 9–8 record from the previous two seasons after a Week 15 win over the New York Jets. With a win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 16, they clinched a playoff spot for a second consecutive season. Despite leading the Buffalo Bills by three games with five to play, the Dolphins faltered late in the season and, combined with the Bills going undefeated since the bye, put AFC East control in their Week 18 matchup.
