2000 World Short Track Speed Skating Team Championships
The 2000 World Short Track Speed Skating Team Championships is the 10th edition of the World Short Track Speed Skating Team Championships, which took place on 4-5 March 2000 in The Hague, Netherlands. All teams were represented by four athletes at 500 m and 1000 m as well as by two athletes at 3000 m. At 500 m and 1000 m, athletes were drafted into the heats of four. At 3000 m, athletes were drafted into two heats. All athletes in each heat were from different countries. The best four team advanced for the relay competition. Jeon Da-hye (; born November 23, 1983) is a South Korean short track speed skater who won gold in the women's 3000 metre relay at the 2006 Winter Olympics. She was born in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. In 1999 Jeon earned her first call to the South Korea women's national short track team at the age of 16. In 2001, she won two silver medals at the World Championships as a member of the national team. In 2001 Jeon was omitted from the national team roster and did not participated in the 2002 Winter Olympics. In February 2002, however, Jeon gained attention again, winning five gold medals at the national collegiate championships. Jeon first participated at the Winter Olympics in February 2006. Yang Yang (; born 24 August 1976) is a Chinese sports administrator, retired short track speed skater, and businesswoman. She is a two-time Olympic Champion from 2002 Winter Olympics and a six-time Overall World Champion for 1997–2002. Known as Yang Yang (A), she was formerly a member of the Chinese national short track team. Yang is one of the most accomplished short track speed skaters of all time having won 34 world titles, including six Overall World Championships. She is the first person to have won six Overall World Titles and won six consecutively. Her victory in the women's 500 m short track at the 2002 Winter Olympics made her China's first-ever Winter Olympics gold medalist.
