The 2000 Chevrolet Cup was an ATP men's tennis tournament held on outdoor clay courts in Santiago, Chile that was part of the International Series category of the 2000 ATP Tour. It was the seventh edition of the tournament and was held from 28 February until 6 March 2000. First-seeded Gustavo Kuerten won the singles title. The ATP International Series (known from 1990 to 1999 as the ATP World Series) was a series of professional tennis tournaments held internationally as part of the ATP Tour from 2000 to 2008. The series was renamed ATP Tour 250 in 2009. International Series offered players cash prizes (tournaments have purses from $416,000 to $1,000,000) and the ability to earn ATP ranking points. Gustavo "Guga" Kuerten (; born 10 September 1976) is a Brazilian former professional tennis player. He was ranked as the list of ATP number 1 ranked singles tennis players, world No. 1 in men's singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals for 43 weeks, including as the year-end No. 1 in 2000 ATP Tour, 2000. Antonio Prieto (born 7 September 1973) is a former professional tennis player from Brazil. Biography Born in Curitiba, Prieto went to college in the United States, at Florida State University from 1994 to 1997. While studying for a business degree he played varsity tennis as the No. 1 singles player. Prieto, who specialised in doubles, turned professional in 1997. The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) is the governing body of the men's professional tennis circuits – the ATP Tour and the ATP Challenger Tour. Mariano Puerta
Mariano Rubén Puerta (; born 19 September 1978) is an Argentine tennis coach and former professional player. He reached a career-high ATP world No. 9 singles ranking in August 2005. His career highlight is reaching the final of the French Open in 2005. Shortly afterwards he tested positive for the banned substance etilefrine in a drugs test, for which he received an eight-year doping ban, subsequently reduced to two years on appeal.
