2000 Heineken Trophy
The 2000 Heineken Trophy was a tennis tournament played on outdoor grass courts at Rosmalen, Autotron park in Rosmalen, 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands that was part of the ATP International Series, International Series of the 2000 ATP Tour and WTA Tier III Events, Tier III of the 2000 WTA Tour. The tournament was held from 19 June until 25 June 2000. Patrick Rafter and Martina Hingis won the singles titles. Grass Court
A grass court is one of the four different types of tennis court on which the sport of tennis, originally known as "lawn tennis", is played. Grass courts are made of grasses in different compositions depending on the tournament. Although grass courts are more traditional than other types of tennis courts, maintenance costs of grass courts are higher than those of hard courts and clay courts. Grass courts (in the absence of suitable covers) must be left for the day if rain appears, as the grass becomes very slippery when wet and will not dry for many hours. This is a disadvantage on outdoor courts compared to using hard and clay surfaces, where play can resume in 30 to 120 minutes after the end of rain. Karina Habšudová
Karina Habšudová (; born 2 August 1973) is a Slovak former professional tennis player. She has been ranked as high as 10 in the world (1997). Together with Karol Kučera, she won the Hopman Cup in 1998. Her best performance at a Grand Slam tournament came when she got to the quarterfinals of the 1996 French Open, defeating Kristin Godridge, Nathalie Tauziat, Martina Hingis, and Anke Huber before losing to Arantxa Sánchez Vicario, 8–10 in the third set. Catherine Barclay
Catherine Barclay (born 12 June 1973) is a former professional tennis player from Australia. Barclay's parents were the owners of a tennis facility in Sydney, and she began playing tennis at the age of eight. In her junior career, she was a winner of the Wimbledon girls' doubles. In her professional career, she won three ITF titles in singles and 30 in doubles. She was a quarterfinalist in the Wimbledon women's doubles and mixed doubles. Paul Vincent Nicholas Haarhuis (born 19 February 1966) is a Dutch former professional tennis player. He is a former world No. 1 doubles player, having reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 18 in November 1995. Ruxandra Dragomir Ilie (born 24 October 1972) is a retired tennis player from Romania. She won four singles and five doubles titles on the WTA Tour during her career. The right-hander reached her highest individual WTA ranking on 25 August 1997, when she became the No. 15 of the world. Between 2009 and 2013 she was the president of Romanian Tennis Federation. Nicolas Jean-Christophe Escudé (born 3 April 1976) is a former professional tennis player from France, who turned professional in 1995. He won four singles titles and two doubles titles during his career. Escudé is best remembered for the vital role he played in the 2001 Davis Cup final against Australia on the grass-courts of Melbourne. Escudé beat the recently crowned World No. 1, Lleyton Hewitt in the first rubber with a win in five sets, repeating what he did to Hewitt earlier that year in the fourth round of Wimbledon. The 2000 Sanex WTA Tour was the 30th season since the founding of the Women's Tennis Association. It commenced on January 3, 2000, and concluded on November 13, 2000, after 58 events. Rosmalen
Rosmalen () is a town in the province of North Brabant, in the south of the Netherlands.
